The societal transformation and major green investments we see in Northern Sweden create enormous opportunities and complex challenges. At the Department of Diagnostics and Intervention, we conduct research and teach within nine different subject areas in close collaboration with the four regions of Norrland. We have internationally recognized research environments where the breadth of subject areas enables innovation and cross-border collaboration. Most of our researchers and teachers work clinically, and our premises are located at the regional hospitals in Östersund, Sunderbyn, Sundsvall, and Umeå – right in the heart of the operations.
We are currently seeking a Staff Scientist for a full-time position for 1 year.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for compiling and developing a comprehensive database and driving your own sub-projects. You will work in close collaboration with other members of the research group and will play a central role in database management, even in sub-projects adjacent to your own.
The role may also involve supervising master's students and doctoral candidates. Furthermore, you will be responsible for contacts with participating registers as well as case handlers within healthcare, the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), and Statistics Sweden (SCB).
An important part of the position is to analyze and present research results in scientific publications as well as at national and international conferences. Other administrative tasks may also be included in the employment.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have completed a doctoral degree in a relevant field, for example as a civil engineer or a physician. You have good knowledge of statistics and database management, as well as the ability to work independently in various statistical programs and develop your own code.
Since the project involves many collaborating partners, good communication and administrative skills are required. You should also have strong scientific drive and an independent working style.
Experience in medical technology or related fields, especially at the interface between physiology and medical technology, is meritorious. Experience working with medical questions is desirable. Knowledge of congenital heart defects is meritorious but not a requirement, as introduction and training are provided within the research group.
As the work involves communication within an international environment, you are expected to have good proficiency in both spoken and written Swedish and English.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
