Department of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies
The Department of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies offers a creative and stimulating work environment with approximately 100 employees. We conduct internationally recognized research, education, and environmental monitoring in the fields of restoration ecology, aquatic ecology, molecular ecology, and zooecology. The department has a high proportion of international staff and well-established national and international collaborations that facilitate valuable exchanges.

The subject area for the position is zooecology, focusing on plant-animal interactions in temperate and boreal forest ecosystems. The application areas include forestry, wildlife management, and forest damage. The aim is to develop the knowledge base regarding animal ecology and their interactions with humans, landscapes, and climate.
The incumbent is responsible for developing research within the field of zooecology, both generally and specifically within the stated focus, in collaboration with other researchers at the faculty and university. The incumbent will also contribute to the pedagogical development within the subject. Specific responsibilities include:
The department has a bilingual work environment. The incumbent will be able to perform most of their duties in English. As a public authority, the university has Swedish as its primary language according to language law requirements. At SLU, non-Swedish-speaking staff are expected to acquire sufficient Swedish skills within four years of employment to access information in Swedish. The department will support the incumbent in achieving this.
