The Preschool and Primary School Administration is one of Varberg Municipality's largest departments, with nearly 2,200 employees. Within our areas of operation – preschools, primary schools, and child and student health services – we are here for children and students. Together, we shape the future.

The Multilingualism Unit in Varberg is the municipality's central resource for mother tongue instruction, study guidance, and language support. The unit consists of a large team of approximately 34 teachers who support around 750 multilingual children and students in preschools, primary schools, and upper secondary schools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a mother tongue teacher in Somali, you have an important role in strengthening students' linguistic identity and their ability to learn in all subjects. You will become part of an organization that views the mother tongue as a valuable resource for the student's entire school journey and as a pathway to better understanding the Swedish language.

The role involves planning and conducting both mother tongue instruction and study guidance in Somali. Together with other teachers, you will create the best possible conditions for learning. Your focus is on helping students develop their mother tongue and understand the school's various subjects through their own language.

QUALIFICATIONS

To succeed in the role of mother tongue teacher, you have a special ability to create engagement and make language learning meaningful for your students. You demonstrate good judgment in your work and can independently plan your day and interventions across different units.

Since you meet many different colleagues and students during a week, it is important that you collaborate effectively with others and easily adapt your teaching and approach based on the student's age and needs.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a teaching license with qualification in Somali, or another pedagogical education that we assess as equivalent.
• Has very good language skills in Somali, both spoken and written.
• Has good knowledge of the Swedish language to collaborate with colleagues and interpret curricula.
• Hold a valid B-driver's license. Since the position involves teaching at several different schools and preschools on the same day, you must be able to move easily between our scattered units.
• Have good digital competence to use municipal learning platforms and digital tools in teaching.

Salary: Monthly salary.
