Your Responsibilities

We are looking for a qualified special needs teacher with a specialization in language, writing, and reading development, or mathematics development, alternatively an experienced teacher for grades 2–5.

To thrive in the role of a special needs teacher with us, you need to have clear ideas on how students in need of special support can optimize their development and learning. As a special needs teacher, we see you as a crucial link in our school development and systematic quality work, together with the principals.

The special needs teacher role involves working preventively and goal-oriented together with the pedagogues in work teams to create good teaching and learning environments based on our steering documents. This special needs teacher support is primarily provided by reviewing (mapping) the student's, class's, or school's entire learning situation, as well as proposing and working with measures that benefit the student's/class's development and learning. This can be done mainly through intensive training in students' language, writing, and reading development or mathematics, but also through guidance for teachers and work/teacher teams. We also expect you to have good knowledge of clarifying pedagogy and low-affective handling, both in theory and practice.

As a special needs teacher, you play an important role in the school's student health team, where the work is carried out in close collaboration with principals, special educators, pedagogues, school nurses, school counselors, as well as in other meeting forums together with external and internal contacts.

Your main responsibilities are:

• To lead and organize a new flexible activity for grades 2–4 together with special educators, teachers, and resource pedagogues at the school.
• To guide teachers by supporting teacher teams and individual pedagogues in mapping students in need of special support within language, writing, and reading development or mathematics development, at the organizational, group, or individual level.
• To work goal-oriented together with other teachers in the work team to create a good teaching and learning environment.

Your Qualifications

Licensed special needs teacher with eligibility for grades 1–6 with a specialization in language, writing, and reading development or mathematics development, alternatively an experienced teacher in grades 1–6 with eligibility in the subjects of mathematics and Swedish.

Söndrumsskolan is a grades 2–9 school located in the western part of Halmstad, close to the sea and nature, with just over 680 students distributed across three stages. The school's units are spread across several smaller buildings, creating a sense of small-scale intimacy and belonging.
