The School of Culture in Fagersta is part of the Welfare and Service Administration in Fagersta Municipality. We offer a creative and inclusive environment where children and young people aged 5–25 have the opportunity to develop their interests in music, dance, visual arts, and crafts. Our staff consists of 9 dedicated school of culture teachers, and we annually organize well-received events such as School of Culture Day and the Christmas Concert.

Your role

You will teach dance groups for children and young people aged 5–19. The groups are divided by age, and the teaching is adapted to the students' experience and development. Teaching takes place primarily in the afternoons and evenings at Fagerstahallen, in the School of Culture's dance studio, but also in various gymnasiums. It may also involve teaching high school students in their elective course (Dance Gestaltning/Dance Shaping) and dance and movement education in Special Needs Primary School. You plan and lead lessons based on the group's needs and work with the students' development both in teaching and before stage performances, including at our larger events during Christmas and National Day celebrations.

Currently, we have a total of approximately 110 dance students in 12 dance groups.

The dance pedagogue teaches children's dance, children's ballet, beginner ballet, and dance mix. The dance pedagogue currently also teaches high school students in the elective course Dance Gestaltning 1, as well as dance and movement for Special Needs Primary School.

The position is a temporary assignment during the academic years 2026/2027 and 2027/2028. It is a holiday service position. Evenings and weekends may be required for teaching. The employment percentage can vary between 50–80 percent depending on the applicant's preferences.

Your qualifications and merits

Requirements include education in dance. You must have documented competence to teach the subject of dance.

A Category B driver's license and access to a car are required as teaching also takes place at various schools.

A clean certificate from the Swedish Police Authority (extract from the criminal record) is a requirement.

Merits include previous experience working as a school of culture pedagogue/teacher in dance.
