About the Position

As a support educator, you will contribute to increased competence within the staff group and develop knowledge regarding pedagogical methods and approaches in the operations. The role also includes supporting, developing, and ensuring the quality of social documentation based on current legislation and routines. You may receive assignments from your manager to support other staff groups in pedagogical work or share your expertise in specific areas with other units within the self-managed LSS (Act for Support and Service for Persons with Certain Disabilities). Based on the specific needs of the operations, you may be assigned special responsibilities within the support educator role. Time for documentation and planning may vary depending on operational needs.

Your responsibilities include:

• Participating in user-oriented work and performing tasks occurring within the operations.
• Contributing knowledge and experience regarding the application of current legislation in the field.
• Supporting staff and users with pedagogical solutions and methods to increase participation and independence.
• Providing collegial support regarding approaches and methods concerning users.
• Supporting the staff group in working with social documentation.
• Supporting the manager in implementing and following up on work related to new and revised routines/instructions/checklists affecting the staff group.
• Training within areas where there is a need for increased competence among the staff group, as assigned by the manager.
• Monitoring the external environment and developing operations in dialogue with the manager.

We offer stimulating and meaningful work, as well as professional development through training via Forum Carpe, Yrkesresan, and internal training initiatives. As a support educator in Täby Municipality, you are part of several networks, including the Support Educator Forum. Here, you will meet with support educators from the entire department to exchange knowledge and experiences and take on assignments at a department-wide level. You will also work closely with development leaders who guide and support you in your role.

Qualifications for Support Educator:

For the title of support educator, post-secondary specialization in the field of disabilities is required:

• The Support Educator program (200 Higher Education Credits)
• 60 ECTS credits directed towards the target group
• Alternatively, a combination of the above equivalent to at least two semesters of full-time studies
• You must have previous experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID) and autism
• Previous experience as a support educator or in a supervisory role

The following are meritorious:

• Experience/training in clarifying pedagogy, AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), and low-arousal approach
• Experience documenting according to IBIC

Personal suitability will be given great weight.

The position is 100% (days, evenings, and weekends). You will divide your role as a support educator between three group homes: Libby Group Home in Gribbylund, Lövbrunna Group Home in Lövbrunna, and Njords Gränd in Täby Kyrkby.
