Junior Software Engineer – Autonomous Systems

How do you develop software for machines that need to navigate, perform tasks, and operate in some of the world's most demanding environments? In this role, you will work on the development of autonomous and automated systems, focusing on C++, simulation, and advanced system development. You will become part of a team developing technology for real-world products, following solutions all the way from idea and implementation to testing and field use.

About the Role

As a Junior Software Engineer, you will join a development team working on the autonomous and assisted systems of the future. You will work on software development, simulation, and technical solutions that help advanced machines navigate, make decisions, and perform work in a safe and efficient manner.

This role is ideal for recent graduates who want to grow in an environment where technical depth, innovation, and collaboration are central. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced developers, system architects, and specialists across various technology fields. The client is an international industrial conglomerate with a strong focus on research, development, and digitalization.

The team culture is characterized by knowledge sharing, curiosity, and collaboration. Here, colleagues help each other solve complex problems and grow together across technical domains. You will enter an environment with significant technical expertise, where you will have the opportunity to grow both professionally and technically.

Responsibilities

You will work in cross-functional development teams where software, simulation, system development, and product development converge. The work spans from requirements gathering and design to implementation, testing, and delivery.

A typical day may involve breaking down new features with the team, implementing code, testing solutions in simulators or test environments, debugging behaviors, and discussing technical decisions with colleagues in areas such as simulation, architecture, automation, or control engineering. The role is varied and combines programming with technical problem-solving in close collaboration with others.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing C++ software for next-generation machine systems
  • Working with simulation, testing, and verification of new features
  • Contributing to the development of autonomous and automated solutions
  • Debugging and analyzing complex technical systems
  • Collaborating closely with developers, testers, and system engineers
  • Being involved throughout the entire development chain from idea to finished product

Who We Are Looking For

  • A Master's degree in Computer Science, Technical Physics, or equivalent education
  • Recent graduate or with up to a couple of years of relevant work experience
  • A genuine interest in software development and advanced technical systems
  • Experience in programming through studies, projects, thesis work, or previous employment
  • Fluent in both Swedish and English (written and spoken)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with simulation or modeling of technical systems
  • Linux-based development
  • MATLAB/Simulink or similar tools

Who Are You?

We believe you are a curious and analytical engineer who enjoys understanding how complex systems work. You are motivated by solving technical problems and driven by developing solutions that are used in the real world.

You are not afraid to ask questions when encountering something new and appreciate working together with others to find the best solutions. At the same time, you take responsibility for your work and have a natural focus on quality and long-term sustainability.
