Job Description

We are looking for an IT Architect with a focus on general infrastructure and modern digital platform capabilities. This role is central to our transition toward a more service-oriented, secure, automated, and business-close IT delivery.

You will work both strategically and closely with implementation by developing architectural decisions, principles, standards, and target images for the university's digital infrastructure. The role involves translating business needs into sustainable technical solutions, specifying requirements for internal and external services, and contributing to modernization, lifecycle management, and the decommissioning of technical debt.

You will lead, among other things, our technical architecture forum and actively participate in work within our service areas. In this role, you will collaborate closely with business units, system engineers, service owners, information security, suppliers, and EA architects. You will act as a bridge between business needs, technical possibilities, security requirements, and long-term architecture. You will contribute to ensuring solutions are sustainable, feasible, maintainable, and well-established.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with good knowledge and experience in:

  • IT architecture with a focus on general infrastructure, data centers, and technical holistic solutions.
  • Several years of experience in architecture work within server, storage, networking, identity, client platforms, security, hybrid environments, or cloud services.
  • Developing, documenting, and establishing technical decisions, principles, standards, and target images for sustainable infrastructure.
  • Good understanding of data center architecture, dependencies between platforms, and how technology choices affect operations, security, and long-term management.
  • Relevant certification in IT architecture, infrastructure, or cloud platforms is advantageous, such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect or equivalent. We also consider equivalent work experience as comparable.
  • Ability to collaborate at the intersection of architecture, technology, management, and business needs, and contribute to the development of a service area responsible for data centers.

As a person, you are motivated by working in a group and thrive when you can challenge with new thoughts and ideas. You have the ability to understand and translate requirements and needs into feasible solutions. You are motivated by working in technical implementation projects, work in a structured manner, and have a good ability to independently plan your workday.

Documented leadership skills and the ability to create direction, coordination, and trust are advantageous, as the role is expected to eventually step into the position of service area manager for data centers.

The work is highly service-oriented, with the majority of the work taking place in close collaboration with colleagues and users. We are looking for someone who wants to develop further and is driven by new challenges. You are ambitious, structured, responsible, quality-conscious, and an open and receptive person who can communicate about problems and solutions. It is important that you have a solution-focused holistic perspective on the operations we conduct. Great emphasis is placed on your personal qualities.

Good knowledge of Swedish and English is required.

Information

The position is 100% and permanent, with a start date as agreed. Örebro University applies individual salary setting and, where applicable, probationary employment.
