Together, we are developing Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future. We are transforming healthcare with the goal of becoming Europe's leading university hospital by 2032. Together with our patients, we work for quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation within a cohesive healthcare system in the Region of Västra Götaland. Our vision and goals aim for care of the highest quality, where the patient is always at the center. We provide local and regional healthcare, as well as highly specialized care for patients across the country and abroad. Our employees are our strength, contributing to knowledge exchange nationally and internationally. Through digital tools and new working methods, we can simplify daily life at the hospital and offer modern, accessible, and efficient care of the highest quality.
About Us
We are looking for more nurses as several staff members plan to study the advanced psychiatric nursing program part-time this autumn.
Ward 369 provides National Highly Specialized Care (NHV) for individuals with severe self-harm behavior. Care is primarily provided on an inpatient ward at Östra Hospital, but the care environment is specially designed for therapeutic work. In addition to inpatient care, we work with home visits, consultation, education, and supervision. Patients arrive via referral, and care is carefully planned. Our care is based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), is psychotherapeutic, and is adapted to the individual's needs and cognitive abilities.
Patients within NHV care meet a multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, nurses, psychologists, care assistants, treatment assistants, peer support workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and dietitians.
We also offer User-Initiated Admission (UIA) for patients from the Affective Disorders Clinic, where patients admit themselves as needed according to a contract written together with outpatient care. The unit conducts research and development in this field.
What We Offer
You will receive an introduction with shadowing alongside experienced colleagues. You are offered supervision, education, and continuous competence development. The unit is the first of its kind in Sweden, and there are good opportunities to participate in development and research work. We value well-being and security within the team. We offer secure employment, health-promoting initiatives, and parental benefit supplements.
Job Responsibilities
You are responsible for psychiatric and somatic nursing, leading and distributing work, and documentation. The work combines medical tasks (e.g., medication, checks) with psychotherapeutic work to strengthen patients' skills. You work in a team with experienced colleagues, both during daytime hours when the whole team is on duty, and during evenings and weekends when nurses, treatment assistants, and care assistants collaborate. The position involves day/evening shifts and two weekends out of five.
Qualifications
Licensed Nurse. Experience in psychiatric care is meritorious. Specialist education in psychiatry, psychotherapy (Step 1 CBT), or DBT training is also meritorious.
We are looking for you with a commitment to the target group, who can remain calm in pressured situations and have a non-judgmental approach. We believe that all behaviors serve a function and we need to approach this with curiosity. You are team-oriented, flexible, pedagogical, and have good self-awareness. Personal suitability is given great weight.
Recent graduates participate in the Clinical Base Year.
We warmly welcome your application!
If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will participate in the Clinical Base Year, which is our introduction program. The Clinical Base Year is mandatory and lasts during the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. Additionally, it includes working on at least two different wards to broaden your competence.
In the event of recruiting nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the current position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish license/specialist certificate.
