The Department of Neurosurgery and Pain Rehabilitation in Lund is one of seven neurosurgical units in Sweden, offering highly specialized care in the southern healthcare region to patients with injuries and diseases of the central nervous system. The department consists of an inpatient ward, day care, operating department, neuro-intensive care unit, and outpatient clinic.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our team on the ward consists of nurses, doctors, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and medical secretaries. Nurse managers and clinical teachers are available to coach and guide the nursing work. We also have a pharmacist who assists with medication preparation and service regarding medications. The nursing assistants are responsible for 'My Plans' (patient care planning) and operational responsibilities. In these roles, they have a holistic view of our patient flow on the ward.

We provide pre- and post-operative care for our neurosurgical patients to ensure safe and secure nursing care. We look at the whole patient and adapt the nursing care to the patient's various needs during their stay.

At our workplace, you will receive an individually adapted introduction over six weeks, based on your previous experience.

Our workplace is built on joy, security, engagement, and competence. These cornerstones enable us to provide good and safe nursing care for our neurosurgical patients. On the ward, we welcome students who are supervised through Peer Learning.

The ward is a Magnet ward, where the Competency and Service Model is part of the journey. The project is ongoing, and the work will continue throughout the autumn. The Magnet Model identifies nursing as one of the main processes in healthcare and focuses primarily on achieving very good nursing outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS

The formal requirements for the position include that you are a licensed nurse with the right to practice in Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish at a minimum level of C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement.
