Oncology Ward 87 is a highly specialized care unit primarily treating diagnoses of lymphoma and sarcoma. We care for both elective and acute patients and have strong ties to the research unit. We are currently in an exciting phase with the introduction of new treatment methods.

We are one of Skåne University Hospital's wards where extra efforts are made in nursing, development, and staff. Several of our employees drive their own development projects, and we aim to regularly allocate time for operational development. As a new nurse with us, you will receive a comprehensive introduction that is both theoretical and practical. The Business Area (VO) of Hematology, Oncology, and Radiation Physics is responsible for non-surgical cancer care and research-based development in the southern healthcare region, with a population of approximately 1.6 million inhabitants. The business area has outpatient and inpatient units in Malmö, Lund, and Helsingborg.

Job Description

We are now welcoming new nursing colleagues for a pleasant work environment with varying pace at our oncology ward.

As a nurse with us, you are responsible for five to six patients together with your team, which also includes nursing assistants and doctors. On a typical workday, you are responsible for the nursing care of the patients in your team and handle medical devices and medications. A characteristic of our ward is that we have a mix of short and long care periods, and several of our patients are recurring during their treatment, allowing you to get to know them. We offer a wide medical breadth and highly specialized oncological treatment, which is developing and interesting.

We regularly offer internal lectures and workshops to spread and share knowledge. Unique to our ward is that every other week we hold an ethics round where all staff participate and have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on the work. As a newly hired nurse, you will receive a tailored introduction over six to eight weeks where we teach you the basics of oncology and cytostatics, as we are aware that this is only touched upon superficially in most educations. After your introduction, you will be assigned a mentor who is an experienced nurse from the ward. For those interested, we offer internal advanced training courses and the opportunity for further education to become a specialist nurse in oncology.

Qualifications

We welcome both newly graduated and experienced licensed nurses, with eligibility to work in Swedish healthcare and an interest in oncological nursing. Language skills in Swedish at least equivalent to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale are a requirement for the position. If you have a specialist education relevant to the position, it is meritorious.
