Two of our highly experienced perioperative nurses are retiring, and we are now welcoming new colleagues with an interest in ophthalmic surgery to our team in Lund.

The Eye Care unit operates in both Lund and Malmö and has regional healthcare responsibilities for Halland, Kronoberg, and Blekinge. This means a broad and stimulating operation with patients from all over the country.

At Eye Surgery in Lund, we have four fully equipped operating theaters and a high patient flow across all ages, from children to adults. The department handles both planned and acute procedures under local and general anesthesia. We perform various procedures such as retinal surgery, cataract surgery, plastic surgery, corneal transplants, lacrimal duct procedures, strabismus surgery, and more. We also perform advanced, highly specialized eye surgery that is only performed at three hospitals in Sweden. Our work makes a tangible difference to our patients' quality of life, every day.

Job Description

As a perioperative nurse with us, you will have a responsible, varied, and developmental role within perioperative care. You will work in a team in the operating theater where you will instrument and assist the surgeon, prepare and handle medications, and be responsible for and work closely with advanced technical equipment. Once you are secure in your role, there are opportunities for further development, for example, as a flow nurse with a more coordinating and leadership responsibility for the operating flow.

Working hours are during the day, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. The position includes on-call duties every eighth weekend and one weekday every other week.

Qualifications

We welcome you if you are a registered nurse or an ophthalmic nurse with the eligibility to work in Swedish healthcare. Additionally, you have specialized education in perioperative care. Proficiency in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale is a requirement. Furthermore, we would appreciate if you have a few years of experience working in surgical operations, but this is not a requirement. It is also meritorious for the position if you have knowledge of the systems Meilor, Orbit, and Pasis.

You are confident in your work as a perioperative nurse and have a positive attitude as well as an ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Additionally, you have good organizational skills and can make decisions independently, while also having good collaboration skills.
