The Language and Competence Centre is a central unit that supports and complements the preschools, primary schools, and upper secondary schools in Borlänge Municipality. The following units are part of this department: Culture Centre Asken, The Emergency School, Central Special Education Groups, Lov School, Special Educational Needs Team, Mother Tongue Instruction, Study Guidance, Reception Classes, and The Tolerance Project. The operations are currently geographically dispersed in Borlänge, with itinerant teachers and premises in various locations.

In the spring term of 2027, the entire unit will be located in shared premises at the former Hagagymnasiet.

The Language and Competence Centre collaborates closely with both local and central student health services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teacher for younger students at the Emergency School.

As a teacher for younger students at the Emergency School, you work in an environment where safety, structure, and relationship-building are at the center. The students are often in a temporary and challenging situation, which places high demands on your leadership, flexibility, and ability to quickly build trust.

You are responsible for planning and implementing teaching adapted to each student's needs, knowledge level, and daily condition. The teaching is clearly structured and is often interspersed with social training and support in developing strategies for a functional school day.

The work involves close collaboration with colleagues, guardians, other parts of the Language and Competence Centre, and the student's regular school, with a focus on creating a sustainable return to regular education. You need to be attentive, consistent, and have a low-affective approach, as well as a good ability to handle challenging situations.

As a teacher at the Emergency School, you are a significant adult who contributes to strengthening the students' self-esteem, motivation, and hope for the future, with the goal that every student succeeds in school and in life.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic requirements for the position:

• Licensed teacher for grades F-3 with education in basic reading, writing, and mathematics learning.
• Very good oral and written skills in Swedish.
• Experience working with lower primary school ages and knowledge within special education.

Personal qualities:

• Ability to build trust quickly with younger students.
• Patience and endurance to meet younger students who are resistant or in difficult situations.
• Clear leadership to create structure and predictability in teaching.
• Flexibility to adapt teaching based on the student's daily condition and needs.
• Low-affective approach to handle conflicts and strong emotions without escalating the situation.

Meritorious qualifications:

• Special educational competence.
• Experience working in special education groups.
