Special Educator with Focus on Language at Södervångskolan, Vellinge

Södervångskolan is located in the urban area of Vellinge, surrounded by green environments and offering excellent commuting options by car (free parking), as well as by bus or bicycle.

Södervång's operations include a preschool and a two-stream (except for two grades) F-9 school with after-school care activities for students in grades F-6. The after-school care is of great importance for our students' sense of security, development, and learning. Our school is characterized by a positive climate. Here, you will meet dedicated, creative, and professional colleagues, as well as wonderful children and young people.

A distinctive feature of our school is that some students in grades 4-9 attend a music class, open to students from across the municipality. We are also proud of our successful school sports association, where younger students are activated under the guidance of high school students, as well as our health initiative involving "Puls-pass" two mornings a week, in addition to the two regular physical education lessons.

1 position(s).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities include assessments and some teaching, as well as leading supervision and training directed at educators. Together with another special educator, you will work with grades 4-9. The other special educator focuses primarily on mathematics, so we want you to focus on language.

You work based on your knowledge to broadly benefit the pedagogical work in groups and provide your colleagues with tools regarding different learning situations. You serve as a consultative support to the work teams and individual colleagues, assisting in goal setting and supportive work. You also maintain good contacts with our external actors. You teach students, individually or in groups, based on assessed needs.

You will be part of Södervångskolan's student health team, which includes special educators together with school leadership and staff from the central student health services: a counselor, a psychologist (part-time), and a school nurse.

Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for ensuring the school's operations have a high level of special educational competence.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are a qualified and licensed teacher with additional education in special education or as a special teacher. We want you to have good knowledge in the area of language.

You have a strong understanding of the special educational mission and possess both good knowledge and experience, as well as commitment, to the various parts of the role; assessment and teaching of students, as well as supervision and training of educators. You apply clarifying pedagogy in your daily practice.

You feel confident regarding the requirements for support and documentation in governing documents. You can make qualified observations of teaching and analytically provide feedback and convey conclusions to colleagues clearly and in a way that is perceived as support in the development work.

We believe that you are a master at building good relationships with both students and guardians, as well as school leadership and the staff you need to collaborate with towards the common goal.

You are unpretentious and have an easy time exploring and re-evaluating methods. You have good analytical skills and constantly strive to develop yourself, which we see as necessary as the world of schools is changing.

Furthermore, we also see that you, as a candidate, have a good ability to take responsibility and initiative regarding your own tasks, as well as for things outside your area of responsibility. You adapt easily to the situation as well as to changed conditions and changes.

You also have good experience and knowledge of working with relevant digital tools.

We want you to contribute your positive view of people, to good cooperation, and high well-being at the workplace, for both children and adults!

Employment type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer.

We apply rolling selection and therefore urge you to submit your application as soon as possible. The position may be filled before the final application date.

We strive for an equal gender distribution and see diversity as a strength, welcoming applicants from different backgrounds.

We want it to feel good both to live and work in Vellinge Municipality. For us, courage, credibility, joy, and care are important for thriving at work and in everyday life. Our employees are used to short decision-making paths, good development opportunities, and good leaders (all managers receive leadership training). In connection with the recruitment process, we have taken a stance on recruitment channels and marketing. We therefore expressly decline contact with media sellers, recruitment sites, and similar.
