Special Educational Needs Teacher (Language Focus) at Södervångskolan, Vellinge

Södervångskolan is located in the town of Vellinge, surrounded by green surroundings and with excellent commuting options by car (free parking), bus, or bicycle.

The school's operations include a preschool and a two-stream F-9 school (with exceptions for two grade levels) offering after-school activities for students in grades F-6. The after-school program plays a significant role in our students' sense of security, development, and learning. Our school is characterized by a positive climate where you will meet dedicated, creative, and professional colleagues, as well as wonderful children and young people.

Unique Focus on Music and Sports

A distinctive feature of our school is that some students in grades 4–9 attend music classes, open to students from across the municipality. We are also proud of our successful school sports association, where younger students are activated under the guidance of high school students. Additionally, we have a health initiative featuring "Puls-pass" two mornings a week, in addition to the two regular physical education lessons.

About the Role

You will work together with another special needs teacher focusing on grades 4–9. While the other special needs teacher primarily focuses on mathematics, your focus will be on language. The role involves mapping student needs, teaching, as well as mentoring and training educators.

You will work based on your expertise to benefit pedagogical work in groups and provide your colleagues with tools for various learning situations. You serve as a consultative support to work teams and individual colleagues, assisting with goal setting and supportive work. You also maintain good contacts with external actors and teach students individually or in groups based on mapped needs.

You will be part of Södervångskolan's student health team, which includes school leadership and staff from the central student health service (a counselor, a psychologist part-time, and a school nurse). Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for ensuring the school's operations maintain high special educational competence.

Who Are You?

We are looking for you who are a qualified and licensed teacher with additional education in special education or as a special needs teacher. Good knowledge in the area of language is required.

You have a deep understanding of the special educational mandate and possess both the knowledge and experience, as well as the engagement, required for the various parts of the role; mapping and teaching students, as well as mentoring and training educators. You apply clear and structured pedagogy in your daily practice.

You are confident in meeting the requirements of steering documents regarding support and documentation. You can conduct qualified observations of teaching and analytically feed back and communicate conclusions to colleagues in a way that is perceived as support in the development work.

We believe you are a master at building good relationships with students, parents, school leadership, and personnel you need to collaborate with to achieve common goals. You are unpretentious, open to exploring and re-evaluating methods, and have strong analytical skills. You constantly strive to develop yourself, which we see as necessary as the world of schools is ever-changing.

Furthermore, we look for someone who takes responsibility and initiates action regarding your own tasks, as well as matters outside your direct area of responsibility. You adapt easily to situations and changing circumstances, and are experienced in using relevant digital tools.

We want you to contribute your positive view of people, fostering good cooperation and high job satisfaction for both children and adults!
