Job Responsibilities
As a student assistant with us, you are a backbone of the student's school day. Your mission is to support a small group of students during lessons, breaks, and at the after-school center.
Your main responsibilities:
- Support the student in pedagogical and social work based on the student's individual development plan.
- Clarify and structure the school day using tools such as visual supports (TAKK/AKK) or other adapted aids.
- Assist with daily situations, transfers, and potentially personal/medical care.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher and the rest of the pedagogical team to create a safe learning environment.
- Contribute to an active and meaningful leisure time after the end of the school day.
Qualifications
You who apply have at least a completed upper secondary education. It is an advantage if you have a focus on care (or equivalent knowledge through at least two years of experience with children and young people with disabilities/intellectual disabilities). You need to have experience working in a special needs primary school. You also need knowledge of various diagnoses and disabilities and how to respond to them, knowledge of alternative communication methods, and knowledge of low-arousal approaches. You have very good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing.
It is further advantageous if you have:
- Experience working with children or young people with intellectual disabilities (ID), autism, or other neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD).
- Education as a student assistant or childcare worker.
- Experience with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) or PECS/TAKK (Picture Exchange Communication System/Signs as Alternative and Augmentative Communication).
- Experience with low-arousal approaches (LAB).
Who are you?
We are looking for you who have a big heart, a good dose of patience, and a natural ability to see the student's strengths rather than obstacles. You are flexible and can quickly adapt when conditions change, while being a safe and stable adult.
