Who are we?
Scenkonst Öst creates performing arts with both breadth and excellence, and the activities are for everyone in Östergötland. Scenkonst Öst consists of the artistic activities Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Östgötateatern with Ung Scen Öst and Östgötamusiken. The organization also includes common support functions within areas such as communications, HR, IT, finance, and property. Norrköping Symphony Orchestra is one of Sweden's leading symphony orchestras and offers a broad concert hall program featuring both classical repertoire and newly composed music. Here, musicians, conductors, producers, and several other professions work together to create high-quality public experiences. As a Producer with planning responsibility, you will have a central role in this work.
What does the role entail?
As a Producer with planning responsibility, you project-manage several of the orchestra's concert productions from initial planning through implementation and follow-up. You are responsible for coordinating the various parts of the productions and work closely with the Artistic Director, other producers, musicians, guest artists, agencies, and internal support functions. You are part of SON's production department, led by the Artistic Director.
The role includes budget responsibility for assigned productions, as well as work with contracts, travel arrangements, accommodation, and other practical prerequisites for guest artists and conductors. You lead and prepare production meetings, follow up on finances and deviations, and ensure that planning takes place in accordance with current agreements and internal guidelines.
As the person responsible for planning, you also have overall responsibility for seasonal and venue planning for the entire concert activity. This means you work strategically and coordinatively in close collaboration with the Artistic Director, the Orchestra Manager, as well as other producers and program councils. The assignment may also include co-productions with other parts of Scenkonst Öst, which requires good teamwork skills, clear communication, and a structured approach to work.
In your daily work, you collaborate with many people in a wide variety of professions, from musicians, conductors, and soloists to technical and administrative staff, to give the audience the best possible experience. You are clear and inspiring, and have the ability to see things from multiple perspectives and quickly translate new information into action when necessary. You enjoy working in a structured and meticulous manner but are also stimulated by creative challenges.
Qualifications
- Relevant university degree or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
- Very good teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work independently and in a structured manner.
- Good industry knowledge and understanding of artistic processes.
- Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
- We would prefer that the applicant has experience of budget responsibility and planning responsibility. Previous experience with orchestra institutions is a plus.
- Experience working in digital planning tools, such as Event, OPAS, or similar systems, is meritorious, as is knowledge of contract law and copyright.
Other information
Employment type: Permanent, with a 6-month probationary period.
Scope: 100%. The position involves some evening and weekend work.
