We are now looking for a technical writer for SAAB in Linköping who wants to work on the development of maintenance manuals for airborne products and systems. In this role, you will help ensure that technical information is clear, accurate, and usable – material that is subsequently used by technicians during maintenance and operation.

The work combines technical writing with preparation. You will be responsible for gathering and analyzing data, interpreting engineering drawings, and transforming complex technical information into structured and pedagogical instructions in Simplified Technical English (STE). Documentation is produced in XML-based tools where the information is structured and tagged according to applicable standards.

You will work closely with engineers and designers, giving you a deep understanding of the products and systems you describe. The role involves significant personal responsibility – from information gathering to finished manuscript – and offers both variety and technical depth.

• At least two years of experience as a technical writer

• Experience working in XML or SGML environments

• Fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

• Technical educational background or equivalent practical experience

Meritorious:

• Experience with the standards ISpec 2200 and/or S1000D

• Good knowledge of Simplified Technical English (STE)

• Experience working with electrical systems

• Experience with service bulletins
