Your responsibilities
We are looking for a librarian with operational responsibility who wants to help develop the library into an open, inclusive, and inspiring meeting place. Here, you will combine regular library work with literacy-promoting initiatives and development in close collaboration with the cultural center and the city library. In this role, you will handle traditional library tasks such as information service and media management, as well as creating a vibrant cultural center in collaboration with other stakeholders. You will meet visitors of all ages and contribute to an accessible and welcoming library and cultural center. A key part of the role is to plan and implement activities that promote reading, learning, and societal participation, both digitally and analogously. You will collaborate with the cultural center's operations and the city library to create relevant activities and media offerings based on visitors' needs and wishes. In addition to your regular duties, you will have operational responsibility. This involves seeing the big picture, which includes working with the department's goals, conducting follow-ups, and collaborating with other operations. Evening and weekend work is included in the position.
Your workplace
You will work in the Culture Division, which consists of the units Museums and Cultural Heritage, and Arts and Cultural Stages. Agora, which belongs to Arts and Cultural Stages, is a cultural center where the library is included as part of the center's activities. Your workplace will be at the Agora Library, where you will collaborate with other operations within the cultural center as well as with other libraries within the municipality. The Agora Library in Linköping is part of a modern cultural center in Skäggetorp that houses a library, café, studio, music studio, and several stages for various activities. It is a lively meeting place where people can read, participate in events, and meet in an open and literacy-promoting environment. The library should be an interactive meeting place for everyone. Central to us is working with democracy, education, and culture. We work to highlight priority target groups, operate outside our own premises, collaborate with other operations, and increase the culture of participation. We aim to create space for innovation, open up for new cultural expressions in close collaboration with other cultural operations and civil society.
You who apply
We are looking for you with a degree in Library and Information Science or another degree from a university or college that the employer deems equivalent. You have previous experience working as a librarian, and we find it meritorious if you have experience in literacy-promoting work for different target groups. Furthermore, it is meritorious if you have experience in team leadership, coordination, or staff management, as well as collaboration with various operations or external actors. You have good digital competence and the ability to support users in digital matters. You have good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing, as you will have many contacts both internally and externally.
As a person, you are team-oriented and contribute to a positive and engaging work climate. You work systematically and can plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively. Thanks to your holistic view, you can also look up to adjust activities and initiatives to overarching goals. The role requires you to be self-reliant, take responsibility for your tasks, and enjoy working towards set goals. At the same time, you are service-oriented and confident in professional contexts, build good relationships, and treat both colleagues and visitors in a professional, attentive, and inclusive manner.
