Job Responsibilities

Sjöarpsskolan is a unique adapted upper secondary school for southeastern Sweden. We are a small school with great resources and long experience, where every student receives support and the opportunity to develop at their own pace. The school is open to both day students and students living in our boarding school.

Our beautiful natural environment invites to many outdoor activities, and the entire operation is characterized by health, wellness, and community. At Sjöarpsskolan, we work to ensure that all students get a little further than they themselves think is possible. We challenge and encourage them so that they all reach our common vision: Learn, Live, Life.

As a student assistant at Sjöarpsskolan, you will support students with intellectual disabilities in their daily schooling and social development. You will work with individualized pedagogy and use alternative communication methods, such as sign language communication and picture support, to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment. An important part of the job is to participate in social training and promote the students' independence, as well as to collaborate closely with teachers, special needs educators, and other school staff to support each student's development. If necessary, the role also includes transporting students to and from various activities, which requires a B-driving license.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have experience and good knowledge of working with students with intellectual disabilities, from mild to severe levels. You have at least a couple of years of experience from adapted school forms, and it is meritorious if you have also worked within LSS housing. You are confident in using alternative communication methods, such as sign language communication and picture support, to meet each student's needs.

The job also involves driving students, which means a B-driving license is a requirement.

As a person, you are clear, communicative, and have an easy time building trust. You are driven by a genuine interest in learning and development and have a positive attitude with a strong belief in each student's ability. You build good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and developmental learning environment.
