Music Teacher for the Culture School in Karlskrona

The Culture School in Karlskrona belongs to the Department of Culture and Leisure and is an important part of the municipality's cultural activities. The Culture School is responsible for providing voluntary education for children and young people in the areas of music, dance, visual arts, theater, and film, meeting approximately 1,000 students per week from lower primary school to upper secondary school.

Our ambition is to awaken the curiosity of the young and give the individual the opportunity to express themselves through the various languages of culture. For us at the Culture School, collaboration and projects between different subjects are a matter of course.

The core activity of the Culture School is voluntary subject courses, but through various projects, the Culture School also collaborates with primary and upper secondary schools. The Culture School also conducts outward-facing activities, which are an important part of Karlskrona's cultural life. As a music teacher, you will have approximately 20 colleagues in various subjects and professional fields.

Responsibilities

As a music teacher, you are independently responsible for scheduling, lessons, and lesson planning in singing. Singing instruction takes place both individually and in groups. You are responsible for the necessary contacts with students and guardians and participate in staff meetings. You plan the outward-facing activities together with your colleagues.

Part of the role requires collaboration across subject boundaries, both individually and in work teams. To thrive in this role, you should enjoy teaching students where joy of playing and curiosity-creating pedagogy are prominent. You must be able to meet the needs and interests of the individual child and have a clear child's perspective in your teaching.

The position is a temporary assignment (vacancy) at 30%. Period: 2026-08-13 -- 2027-06-18. Work according to schedule during day and evening hours. Some weekend work may occur during events and outward-facing activities.

For this position, you must be able to provide an extract from the criminal record.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a Teacher's Degree or other education that the employer deems equivalent.

Furthermore, you are theoretically knowledgeable and have singing experience in most musical styles. You have a good and trustworthy way of working with children and young people to give our students the tools to develop their artistic and technical skills. For this position, you must be self-initiating, engaged, and accustomed to driving your own projects.
