Special Educator for Jämjö Knowledge Centre and Torhamn School

Jämjö Knowledge Centre is an F-9 school located in a natural and scenic environment in Jämjö. Approximately 670 students attend the school, including 150 on the middle school level (grades 4-6). The work at JKC is based on close collaboration between all staff across our different professions to create a shared vision of both learning and students, enabling us to support them in their development in the best possible way. The role of special educator is shared between the middle school at Jämjö Knowledge Centre and Torhamn School (F-6).

Responsibilities

The role of special educator includes, in addition to what is specified in governing documents such as the Education Act, the curriculum, and municipal guidelines, the following tasks:

• Student Health Work on Three Levels:
  • Organizational level at the middle school unit (grades 4-6) and Torhamn School.
  • Group and individual level: Demonstrate the ability to identify, analyze, and contribute to promoting, preventive, and remedial work to remove obstacles and difficulties in the learning environment.
  • Conduct assessments, analyses, and pedagogical screenings, and participate in identifying and proposing other types of investigations.
• Action Plans: Design and participate in implementing action plans in collaboration with educators, guardians, students, and the Student Health Team (SHT). Action plans must be updated, developed, and communicated with guardians, teachers, and students.
• Teaching and Student Time: Individual teaching or small groups.
• Observations: Of groups.
• Dialogue Partner and Advisor: For colleagues, guardians, and students.
• Competence Development: Participate in professional development.
• Professional Meetings: Participate in these meetings.
• Documentation: Document your own work.
• Collaboration: Within the school and with other actors.

Qualifications

Academic degree as a special educator.

We are looking for someone who is good at creating and strengthening internal and external collaborations, as well as building new relationships and nurturing existing ones.
