We are now looking for another teaching assistant who wants to become part of our community at the adapted upper secondary school.
About the position
The teaching assistant position is located at the national program for Hotel, Restaurant, and Bakery at the adapted upper secondary school at Virginska Gymnasium. The employment is a permanent position as a term-time appointment with a base workload of 85%. A term-time appointment means that you work during the school's operational periods and are on leave during school holidays. For the upcoming academic year, there will be a temporary increase in the workload to 92.5% based on the needs of the operations.
Examples of duties:
- You help, support, and stimulate students both individually and in groups, in collaboration with and under the direction of teachers.
- You are knowledgeable about and follow the teacher's lesson plans.
- You collaborate with the teacher in creating an accessible learning environment.
- You are attentive to the students' needs and adapt support and strategies to create conditions for the student's independence in learning.
About the workplace
The adapted upper secondary school is for young people who do not meet the school's knowledge requirements due to an intellectual disability. The municipal adapted upper secondary school is organized under Tullängsgymnasiet but operates part of its activities at Virginska Gymnasium and the Kvinnersta area. This position is initially located at Virginska Gymnasium. Currently, the operation comprises 130 employees and 155 students. Our activities are based on a holistic perspective of the student and include both academic and social goals. We strive to give students life skills and place great emphasis on developing communication and social interaction. The adapted upper secondary school is part of the Upper Secondary and Labor Market Administration. Here, 1,400 employees work in a variety of roles to provide young people and adults in Örebro with the same opportunities for education and self-sufficiency. Within the administration, there is competence in many different areas and operations, which means that as an employee, you have great opportunities for professional development in a creative and varied environment.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and able to maintain a calm and professional attitude even in situations that may be physically and mentally demanding. The role requires patience, responsibility, and flexibility, as well as a good ability to adapt work methods and interactions based on each student's individual needs and daily condition.
The work takes place in close collaboration with teachers and colleagues, making good teamwork skills and an unpretentious attitude important qualities. The position requires good verbal and written communication skills in Swedish. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Requirements:
- Appropriate upper secondary education, Child and Youth Program, Care and Assistance Program, or other upper secondary education
- Experience working in adapted school forms
- Experience working with students with intellectual disabilities
Merits:
- Experience working in large-scale kitchens or restaurants
- Knowledge of NPD (Neurodevelopmental Disorders)
- Computer literacy
