Youth Support Worker for Tierp Municipality

The Housing Support department consists of eight different teams: three general psychiatric teams, one LSS team, one addiction team, one integration team, one family team, and one youth team. We are also responsible for a meeting point for people with long-term mental health issues, aimed at creating social community and breaking isolation. Housing Support consists of 32 employees, four of whom are coordinators.

Job Responsibilities

We are currently looking for a Youth Support Worker for one open position. As a Youth Support Worker, you work with young people aged 13–21 who need support in their daily lives. You will support young people with psychosocial problems, problematic school absenteeism, self-harm behavior, mental health issues, risky substance use, addiction, and NPD (Neurodevelopmental Disorders) diagnoses.

Your tasks include:

  • Support in school
  • Support for treatment and addiction care
  • Motivational conversations
  • Support for leisure activities
  • Support for emotional management

The assignment is designed together with the young person, based on each individual's needs. Our methods are based on low-affective handling, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and a solution-focused approach.

Qualifications

To our youth team, we are now looking for a man between 25–40 years of age who is educated as a treatment assistant or has other equivalent education. We are looking for you who are driven by a strong commitment to young people. As a person, you are structured, solution-focused, and flexible. You have the ability to motivate, stay the course, and handle conflicts in a low-affective and solution-focused manner.

The work places high demands on your approach and your ability to create attachment and professional relationships. You must have the ability to create hope for a functioning and well-being life for the young people you meet.

We see flexibility and responsibility-taking as important traits, and collaboration – both internally and externally – is a given for you.

Other requirements:

  • Good documentation skills
  • Category B driver’s license (required)
  • Extract from the criminal record for residential homes (HVB) is required

Great importance is attached to personal suitability.

Employment Conditions

Employment type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer.
Working hours: According to schedule.
