WORK ASSIGNMENTS
You will work partly with students following individual programs within the adapted upper secondary school in Osby. Linked to the individual program, the work takes place in a small teaching group with students who have care needs. The teaching is experience-based and rests on a salutogenic approach, where we start from the students' strengths and what promotes their learning.
We are looking for someone who is brave, sees opportunities, and has the ability to discover what each student can do, not just what limits them. You see society as a resource and want to be part of creating learning situations where students get to experience and participate in real-world environments.
You have a genuine interest in working with young people with intellectual disabilities. The work involves meeting students with support needs, which requires flexibility, sensitivity, and a respectful and professional approach.
You have the ability to adapt to the students' daily condition and work with structure, responsibility, and a solution-focused mindset. You use a low-affective approach with the students' best interests in focus and have a pedagogical approach in everything you do. You are positive, clear, and collaborative, contributing to a secure and developmental learning environment.
Your work tasks consist of, under the direction of teachers and/or independently, supporting the students in teaching as well as during breaks, other parts of the school day, and during Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
We would appreciate it if you, applying to us, have previous experience working with students with physical disabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education in Care and Nursing with a specialization in disabilities, or other adequate education assessed by the principal as equivalent.
- Knowledge of how to work safely and ergonomically to avoid injuries.
- Ability and willingness to perform physical work in the form of lifting and transfers. The work involves lifting and other physically demanding tasks, so good physical health is important.
- Ability to communicate using signs as support (TAKK) and/or other alternative communication methods.
- Insight into how intellectual and cognitive disabilities affect the individual's daily life and learning.
- Previous work in personal assistance, care, or support for people with physical disabilities, as well as experience working with various physical aids such as corsets and standing aids, is meritorious.

Employment type: Permanent position.
There is an opportunity to combine the work with being a part-time firefighter. Assessment is made based on the needs of the operations.
