Göteborg Stallbacka Airport is a regional airport with a central location in West Sweden – an important societal function that creates accessibility, growth, and development. The airport is jointly owned by Trollhättan, Vänersborg, Uddevalla, and Lysekil and is served annually by over a hundred aircraft types. The airport is in an exciting phase of development – with growing operations, new demands from the external environment, and a strong focus on environment and technology.

Our scheduled flights to Stockholm, Visby, and Sälen are operated by Västflyg, and as an emergency airport, we are ready around the clock for vital societal transport.

We continuously invest in infrastructure and green technology to meet future demands for efficiency and environmental friendliness. With the highest approved percentage of sustainable aviation fuel and participation in the Green Airport project, we are driving development towards a fossil-free Swedish aviation sector – targeting 2030 and 2045.

We are now looking for an Airport Manager / Accountable Manager for Göteborg Stallbacka Airport in Trollhättan

Do you want to lead a regional airport with growth potential in a central location in West Sweden? We are now seeking an Accountable Manager who wants to lead the development of the certified airport operations, with clear and overarching responsibility for safety, efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance. You lead the operations and safety work, ensuring that flight safety is always at the center – balanced between assignments, resources, and long-term development. You have responsibility for the budget, personnel, and working environment, and lead an engaged team of approximately 15–20 employees.

The airport is undergoing ongoing organizational changes to create an even better and more purposeful operation based on today's requirements and regulations. In this development, you will become a key person responsible for ensuring that the airport's operations have the right structure, resources, and competence to meet the requirements of the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen) and EASA. As Accountable Manager, you are part of the management group and report to the CEO as well as relevant authorities regarding regulatory compliance, safety management, and certification.

An important part of the assignment is to drive the airport's infrastructure development and sustainability transition. You will project-manage initiatives such as the upgrade of lighting systems, infrastructure for electrification of aircraft and drones, and climate adaptation of the operational environment. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the CEO and management group, as well as partners within the Green Airport project – with the goal of contributing to a fossil-free Swedish aviation sector.

Examples of duties:

• Lead and develop the airport's operations based on assignments from the CEO and the Board, including representing the airport towards authorities, airlines, suppliers, and other stakeholders
• Ensure that operations meet the requirements of the Swedish Transport Agency and EASA for operations, safety, and air navigation services, which includes ensuring resources, organization, and competence to meet the requirements linked to the airport's certificate
• Lead and distribute work through unit managers and functional managers
• Project-manage strategic initiatives within technology, environment, and infrastructure
• Contribute to Göteborg Stallbacka Airport continuing to be a competitive and future-oriented actor in Swedish aviation

Qualifications

You have an academic education preferably in natural sciences or engineering – or other relevant post-secondary education combined with experience in similar assignments. You have previously had responsibility for personnel, budget, and working environment and thrive in a role where structure, safety, and development go hand in hand.

It is an advantage if you:

• have experience in the role and/or understanding of the aviation industry and similar operations with clear regulatory requirements
• have thorough knowledge of environmental and technical issues
• thrive close to daily operations and are willing to help where needed
• have previous experience leading managers

In the role of Accountable Manager, you collaborate with many different actors. You are communicative, cooperation-oriented, and judicious, with the ability to express yourself clearly in both Swedish and English.

Terms of employment

Göteborg Stallbacka Airport is a protected object, and the position involves contact with security-sensitive information, which means a security clearance check is conducted before employment. You need to be able to provide an extract from the criminal record register and certificates proving employment for the last five years.

The position of Accountable Manager will become a permanent position when you have been approved and meet the Swedish Transport Agency's guidelines and requirements for an Accountable Manager, and that you are well-versed in management and quality systems related to aviation operations.
