Seeking a calm and clear-minded person for an active child with autism
We work to create a meaningful everyday life for children and young people with disabilities, focusing on safety, participation, and development.
We are now looking for an engaged and attentive person to support a 13-year-old boy with autism. He needs structure, predictability, and clear communication in his daily life. In challenging situations, he may exhibit challenging behaviors, which requires you to be calm, stable, and able to maintain your composure.
Do you have experience or education in neuropsychiatric disabilities and low-affective interaction? Do you want to be a significant adult who builds trust, safety, and developmental opportunities for a child?
As a pedagogical assistant in our adapted short-term care, you will work closely with the child and provide support based on his needs and daily condition. You will become an important part of creating a safe and functional daily routine with clear routines and respectful interaction.
We offer you supervision and support, wellness benefits, and a meaningful and developing daily life.
Your responsibilities
The work involves supporting the child in short-term care before and after school, as well as on holidays when school is closed. Your main tasks are to:
- Create a safe and structured daily life.
- Assist with personal care and hygiene.
- Motivate and support the child in play and activities.
- Divert and manage situations where the child experiences frustration.
Working hours are on weekdays 06:30–08:00 and 13:00–17:00, during school holidays 06:30–17:00.
Who are you?
We are primarily looking for you who are a support assistant and have a high school education in care and nursing, child and youth, are trained as a social pedagogue and/or personal assistant, preferably with a focus on social work. A B-class driver's license is required for the position.
Qualifications that are meritorious for the position include:
- Experience working as a personal assistant, support assistant, or in school/recreation.
- Knowledge of alternative communication such as picture support or PECS.
- Completed training in autism and low-affective interaction.
We are looking for you who have a genuine commitment to children and young people and who see the child's unique needs, strengths, and opportunities. You are a calm, mature, and self-reliant person who creates trusting relationships with warmth, care, and respectful interaction, while also enjoying collaborating with colleagues.
You are patient and empathetic, with the ability to remain calm even in challenging situations. With good judgment and a low-affective approach, you meet the child based on their needs and do not take situations or behaviors personally. We also believe you have pedagogical insight that helps you adapt support, activities, and interaction to create the best possible conditions for development, participation, and well-being.
You have the endurance to create structure and build safety over time. With a positive attitude and creativity, you contribute to meaningful activities. Since the child has an active pace and the work may involve both play, activities, and some lifting, it is important that you have good physical fitness and enjoy an active daily life both indoors and outdoors.
