to apply for the job
We are looking for 2 new personal assistants to join our team for a man in his 30s.
The client has autism, a moderate intellectual disability, and epilepsy. Daily life is characterized by a calm pace where the client's daily condition dictates the activities.
The work involves a strong focus on the home environment and creating a safe and adapted living situation.
It is important that you, as an assistant, are comfortable with spending the entire work shift indoors. Although the client has interests such as motor vehicles, music, second-hand shopping, excursions, and coffee breaks, he may choose to stay inside and decline suggested activities.
Your role is then to be there as a responsive support and accept his choices, while finding meaningful daily routines together, for example through movies, board games, iPad, or quiet moments in the house.
As an assistant, you are the client's safe point in daily life. Your tasks include:
-
Personal Support: Assistance with care, routines, and household management.
-
Activities: Support with shopping, excursions, and social situations.
-
Safety and Communication: A central part of the job is being attentive to the client's well-being. In times of stress, anxiety, or difficulty communicating, the client may express strong frustration through intense emotional outbursts.
-
Your role requires you to maintain your calm, act as a stable role model, and guide him when the outside world becomes too intense.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who is stable, responsible, and has a pedagogical mindset. You have genuine patience and the ability to create the structure the client needs to feel well.
Requirements for the position:
-
Valid driver's license and access to a personal car (the residence is located outside Visby).
-
Non-smoker.
-
Comfortable working varying hours.
Meritorious qualifications:
-
Experience with Low-Affective Approach (LAB).
-
Knowledge of autism, intellectual disability, or epilepsy.
-
Previous experience in personal assistance or similar care work.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability and chemistry. We are looking for someone who can combine professionalism with a warm and calm approach.
