We are now looking for a Personal Assistant at Solhagaskolan for a student at an adapted upper secondary school.

At Nytida, we are constantly developing. Here, you can grow as a person while making a difference for others. Our culture is permeated by our values – respect, responsibility, simplicity, and knowledge.

Your role
As a personal assistant, you work closely with a student on an individual program within adapted upper secondary education. Your main task is to create the conditions for the student to have a safe, fun, and developmental day at school. The schoolwork is planned by the responsible teacher with whom you collaborate.

The student studies subject areas and needs extensive individual support throughout the entire school day. The work is characterized by relationship-building, clarifying pedagogy, structure, and predictability. You motivate, support, and guide the student through the day's activities and adapt your approach based on the student's needs and daily condition.

The student has a moderate intellectual disability as well as autism and ADHD. He is a fun and appreciated young man who is very rewarding to work with when he feels safe. At the same time, he is highly sensitive to demands and has difficulties with impulse control, and in some situations may react with outbursts. Therefore, we work consistently from a low-affective approach.

The assignment is meaningful and developmental, but also demanding. It places high demands on attendance, endurance, and the ability to remain calm even in challenging situations.

Working hours are approx. 07:45–12:45.

About Solhagaskolan
Solhagaskolan is an adapted primary and upper secondary school within Nytida, located in Lödöse, which belongs to Lilla Edet Municipality. The school has a cheerful team that has worked together for a long time. The target group at the school consists of students with intellectual disabilities, autism, ADHD, and potentially other additional diagnoses. The school has space for approx. 17 students. For more info about our operations, visit us on Instagram or our website.

Your experience and knowledge
We are looking for you who have the courage, experience, and desire to work with one of our most challenging students. Our school is an adapted school focusing on students in great need of special support. Here you meet a student group where outbursts, self-harm behavior, and other problem-causing behaviors are part of everyday life.

This assignment is not for everyone.
It requires a strong psyche, a secure personality, and clear structure. You need to be able to stand your ground when things get tough, take responsibility in pressured situations, and at the same time meet every student with respect and professionalism. The assignment is meaningful and developmental, but also demanding. It places high demands on attendance, endurance, and the ability to remain calm even in challenging situations.

We work with low-affective handling (LAB) as a foundation. This means we do not let ourselves be provoked, but focus on understanding, regulating, and handling behaviors with calmness and clarity. You need to be perceptive, reflective, and secure in yourself – with previous experience of the target group.

You have at least a high school education, preferably within care and social services or childcare/child and leisure. It is meritorious if you have experience with low-affective handling, students with neuropsychiatric disabilities and/or intellectual disabilities.

We are looking for someone who understands differences and is flexible in their thinking. You need to be solution-focused and preferably have experience working in schools and with people with disabilities. You are a responsible, empathetic, and meticulous person who has a genuine interest in supporting people with disabilities. You have a positive attitude, focus on opportunities, and see it as your natural responsibility to contribute to a positive work climate. You must be able to work independently. You need to be in stable condition both physically and mentally as it is important to be able to support the students and handle stress.

You need to have very good knowledge of Swedish, both written and spoken. This is very important, so if you do not meet this criterion, we ask you not to apply for this position. Since the oldest students at the school can be approx. 20–21 years old, it is an advantage if you are older than them.
