Engaged Youth Worker Wanted at Ung Fritid Kumla

Ung Fritid (Youth Leisure) is part of the Leisure Department within the Culture and Leisure Administration of Kumla Municipality. The administration creates conditions for good living standards for all residents and visitors of Kumla. We also contribute to creating a meaningful leisure time through experiences and by providing opportunities for creativity and health.

Ung Fritid currently consists of two youth centers, Kvisten and Kumlaby, which are open Monday through Saturday every week. In addition to our youth centers, our staff works on other activities related to young people, such as holiday activities, sports activities, excursions, and more.

Ung Fritid Kumla is a member of KEKS (Quality and Competence in Collaboration), which means a strong focus on young people's participation and influence. We believe that young people develop best in an environment where they are involved and take responsibility. Ung Fritid belongs to the unit "Ung Fritid and Sports Operations," which also operates facilities such as ice rinks, sports grounds, the leisure bank, and more.

Job Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will be to drive and develop Ung Fritid's meeting places and the municipality's general youth work, together with existing staff.

You will work in the daily operations at one of Kumla's two youth centers, Kvisten or Kumlaby, and in the recess activities at the municipality's three high schools. Meeting with young people is central to all our operations. Your job is to be a safe point for the young people you meet and to work on their development. You will also be responsible for one or more assignments where there is a high requirement for initiative, responsibility, and being attuned to young people's thoughts and wishes. Internal and external collaboration is common.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are trained as a youth worker (fritidsledare) or have equivalent post-secondary education considered relevant for the tasks, for example, behavioral scientist, public health scientist, cultural scientist, social worker, or other education. Alternatively, working life experience assessed as equivalent and relevant may substitute formal education. A Class B driver's license for manual transmission vehicles is required.
