F 16 is responsible for the Uppsala Garrison and the operation of Uppsala Airport. The wing is also responsible for the 24/7 surveillance of Swedish airspace year-round and leads the Air Force's combat aircraft in the air. You will become part of a military organization undergoing significant change and development due to the international situation and Sweden's NATO membership.

About the Unit

The 163rd Garrison Battalion consists of the Logistics Company, the Garrison Company, and the Training Company, which together create the conditions for assigned units to focus on their primary tasks. The battalion's role and tasks are evolving rapidly to meet the new challenges facing Sweden and the Swedish Armed Forces.

This position is located at the battalion headquarters but operates in close proximity to the command and companies. The staff, like the battalion, comprises all parts of the military profession: officers, soldiers, and civilians. Together, we are developing the battalion to meet tasks such as support to assigned units, mobilization, host nation support, and training.

The battalion staff is seeking officers for positions within both PLANNING (PLAN) and EXECUTION (GEN).

Main Responsibilities

As an officer at the staff, you serve as a key link for tasks from higher command and maintain close contact with the wing staff's departments. Depending on whether you work on execution tasks with a shorter time horizon or planning tasks with a longer perspective, your main responsibilities will vary. However, you will always act as a general staff resource, supporting wherever needed at any given time.

Examples of tasks include:

  • Tasking, coordinating, and following up with subordinate companies
  • Creating conditions for subordinates to execute ordered operations
  • Leading and conducting preparations
  • Leading planning work and planning tasks within the battalion, such as mobilization, host nation support, war planning, and training
  • Leading ongoing operations within the battalion
  • Creating the basis for operational priorities within the framework of ongoing activities
  • Training coordination
  • Contributing to a common situational awareness both at the battalion level and within the unit.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • SO6-7 or OF1-2
  • Current experience working daily with various IT systems
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
  • Category B driver's license (manual transmission)

Other Information

Employment Type: Permanent. The Swedish Armed Forces may apply a six-month probationary period.

Full-time/Part-time: Full-time

Work Location: Uppsala. F 16 also has operations in other locations, which may involve occasional business travel.

Working Hours: Primarily daytime. Evening and weekend duty may occur during operations, activities, or as needed.

Start Date: As soon as possible, according to agreement

Salary: Individual salary setting
