Wing 16 (F 16) is growing and we are now looking for new colleagues who want to join our development journey! The Radar Platoon is recruiting soldiers for technician, driver, and medical roles.

About the Unit

The Sensor Company, part of the Air Force's Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion, is mobile and tasked with densifying, complementing, and replacing infrastructure for air radio and radar with mobile systems. The company can reinforce radar coverage, air radio coverage, and communications at strategic points across the country with short notice.

Main Duties

As a soldier in the Radar Platoon, you will be part of a group consisting of soldiers and specialist non-commissioned officers (SNCOs). Your colleagues in the group include technicians, combat medics, drivers, support gunners, and high-altitude workers. Your squad leader is an SNCO. Consequently, there is high and diverse competence within the group, and there are good opportunities for development in daily work. The group has significant freedom in how they choose to solve their tasks.

The radar technician is trained in specific technical radar systems and is responsible for setting up and maintaining these systems. You will support the SNCO in the group and have the opportunity to focus on either technology or climbing. You will also have the opportunity to engage in physical training individually and collectively during working hours. You will have the opportunity to put your own stamp on the training and lead training sessions for others.

Day-to-day operations are primarily conducted at Uppsala Garrison. However, the company's tasks may require the group to perform work anywhere across Sweden. During these missions, you and your group often work far away from the rest of the company.

Qualifications

  • Completed basic military training with a passing grade
  • Multitest 175 points, Field Test 13:30 min
  • Category B Driver's License

Employment Type Fixed-term employment according to GSS/K agreement, 6 years with the possibility of extension up to 12 years. The Swedish Armed Forces apply a six-month probation period for those not already employed by the agency.

Employment Level Full-time

Work Location Uppsala. F 16 also has operations in other locations, which may involve occasional business travel.

Working Hours Primarily daytime. Evening and weekend duty may occur during training activities.

Start Date As soon as possible, according to agreement.

Salary: We apply individual salary setting.

The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and surveillance of Uppsala Airport as well as the training of conscripts in various roles within the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion, which controls fighter aircraft in the air and manages the constant surveillance of Swedish airspace. The unit operates from several different locations in the country and constitutes an important part of the growth period the Air Force is undergoing.
