F 16 is responsible for the Uppsala garrison and the operation of Uppsala Airport. The wing is also responsible for the 24/7, year-round surveillance of Swedish airspace and leads the Swedish Air Force's combat aircraft in the air. You will become part of a military organization undergoing significant change and development due to the international situation and Sweden's NATO membership. About the Unit

Combat Unit 162 Air Base Battalion is in an expansion phase and on a significant growth journey. The unit is based in Uppsala, with the main task of enabling the takeoff and landing of aircraft on our runways, as well as protecting and defending the air base and our operations. 162 Air Base Battalion is active 24/7, 365 days a year, conducting operational missions for Sweden's defense within NATO.

We are looking for you who want to work as Deputy Company Commander at 1621 Air Base Company at F 16, Uppland Air Wing. Here you will have the opportunity to work in an engaged and cohesive team where you can develop yourself while contributing to the company's capability development. The battalion's main task is to operate and maintain security around the air base. Daily life involves operational activities with very short notice, varied with long-term planning, development, and establishing the Air Force's new capabilities.

Main Responsibilities

1621 Air Base Company is currently responsible for airport operations in the form of airfield maintenance, rescue services, marshalling services, air terminal services, as well as the operation and maintenance of the airport's technical systems. The company is also responsible for the protection and surveillance of F 16's protected values. In the role of Deputy Company Commander, you work closely with the Company Commander and support them in the planning, leadership, and development of the company. As Deputy Company Commander, you are responsible for the company's incoming tasks, its economy, and create decision-making materials for the Company Commander. The position includes both personnel and employer responsibility at the company level. In your role, you are part of the company leadership, and in the absence of the Company Commander, you must be ready to lead the company. The work will lead to your development in your role as a leader and manager in the Swedish Armed Forces.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Completed conscription, GMU (General Military Training), or GU (General Service) with a passing grade.
  • Completed OP (Officer Program) with a passing result
  • OF 1-2 (Officer Course 1-2)
  • Category B driver's license

MERITORIOUS

  • Previous experience in a command position within the Swedish Armed Forces
  • Experience working in the PRIO and VIDAR systems

Employment Type: Permanent. The Swedish Armed Forces may apply a six-month probationary period.

Employment Level: Full-time

Work Location: Uppsala. F 16 also has operations in other locations, which may involve occasional business trips for training and exercises.

Working Hours: Primarily daytime. Evening and weekend duty may occur during exercise activities.

Uppland Air Wing, F 16, has its headquarters at the Uppsala garrison. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and surveillance of Uppsala Airport as well as the training of conscripts in various positions within the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Command and Air Surveillance Battalion, which commands combat aircraft in the air and manages the constant surveillance of Swedish airspace. The unit operates from several different locations in the country and constitutes an important part of the growth period the Air Force is undergoing.
