Your new job

Österängsskolan is a school with a strong forward-looking spirit, where you, together with various professional categories and engaged colleagues, strive to move forward for the benefit of the students. As a lower secondary school teacher (grades F-3), you are responsible for actively planning, implementing, and following up on teaching together with your closest colleagues. This includes creating good learning environments and developing teaching methods together so that more students can reach as far as possible in their learning.

We are a smaller F-6 school where the student population is increasing – we currently have 210 students. Here, different languages and cultures meet, and we want to capitalize on all students' experiences and abilities. Here, you will work together with engaged, experienced, and qualified colleagues in both primary school and after-school care. The role involves building good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You are part of a work team where you are expected to contribute to the development of the entire school.

We want to move forward, and based on our own results, we have identified development areas that benefit our students, their learning, and their sense of security. In collaboration with the Swedish National Agency for Education and the Central Administration in Jönköping, we drive competence development focused on improving our teaching to achieve higher goal fulfillment. Through collegial learning, we develop cooperative and linguistic working methods.

Our aim is for all our work to be part of systematic quality work, continuously developing our operations for the better in a structured manner.

Österängsskolan is a small school centrally located. Proximity to nature, sports facilities, libraries, and the Birka youth center are some of our major advantages. Here, qualified teachers in preschool class, primary school, and after-school care work in close collaboration with the school's special needs pedagogical team, psychosocial group, and student health team. Together, we create a safe and inclusive environment where values are in focus, and we work preventively and health-promoting for the best of each student. We also have a social pedagogue, a school social worker, and a language pedagogue who together strengthen our work. They help build bridges between school and society, promote security and attendance, and inspire language-developing working methods.

During our breaks, we also offer break-time activities to encourage play and movement. We in the school leadership strive for a close, transparent, and pedagogical leadership style where we place great emphasis on communication.

Your competence

We are looking for you who are a qualified teacher for grades F–3, or who are at the end of your education and awaiting certification. You have broad subject competence, with a requirement for certification in Swedish and/or mathematics. You also have good knowledge of the primary school's mission and its steering documents, as well as good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. Otherwise, you have basic IT skills and the ability to use digital tools as support in teaching.

Certification in Swedish as a Second Language (SvA) is meritorious. If certification in SvA is lacking, there is an opportunity for further education in the area in the future.

As a person, you are stable and confident in your professional role but also curious to learn new things. You have a clear and engaging leadership style, are structured in your approach to work, and have good pedagogical insight. Furthermore, you have a holistic view of student development and a desire to utilize students' mother tongues and cultures in their learning.

Before employing new colleagues in our teaching positions, we must ensure that there is a valid teaching certificate. We therefore ask you to attach a current teaching certificate obtained from the Swedish National Agency for Education within the last two months.
