We are now looking for a school counselor for our student health team at Munkagårdsgymnasiet!

Responsibilities

In the role of school counselor, you work on all levels – individual, group, and organizational. This involves independent curative work to support students, both individually and in groups. You work preventively and health-promotingly, serving as a support in the school's pedagogical work with a focus on creating a safe school environment that promotes health and learning, and strengthens students' opportunities to achieve their goals. Based on each student's individual needs, you meet the student in conversations regarding the challenges they face. The work also involves collaborating and coordinating with other societal resources and authorities, such as social services, when necessary.

About the workplace

Munkagårdsgymnasiet is a small high school offering only the Nature and Agriculture program in Tvååker. We have the specializations Animal Care, Agriculture, Nature Tourism, and Forestry.

The school also offers the Nature and Agriculture program with the specializations Animal Care, Agriculture, and Gardening, adapted for students with a diagnosis within neuropsychiatric disabilities, which we call "Spåret" (The Track). Our students studying via Spåret are taught in smaller groups and supported during lessons by our youth coaches.

We have approximately 320 students and 130 staff members. The school also has a boarding house for students who live too far away to commute daily. During weekdays, approximately 200 students reside in the boarding house.

As a school counselor, you belong to the school's student health service, which operates across the school. The student health team includes a school nurse, counselor, special educator, and study and career counselor, led by the principal.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker (socionom). If you have previous experience working as a school counselor in a student health team, we consider this a merit. Experience working with youth who have NPD (Neuropsychiatric Disability) diagnoses is also an advantage.

As a person, you should have a burning interest in working with young people, possess a low-affective approach, and put the student at the center. To thrive with us, it is important that you have good collaboration skills, are flexible, and resourceful to reach our young people.
