Your responsibilities

• Join the school's student health team to work on promoting and preventing issues regarding youth health, and to follow up on health-related matters.
• Support children and young people in school and at home, for example in cases of grief, bullying, crises, and various forms of substance abuse.
• Act as an advisor and informant to teachers, and work preventively on issues such as drugs and equal treatment.
• Work together with school leadership, the student health team, parents, teachers, other school staff, and representatives from other professions in society.
• Actively participate in development work.

In your role as a school counselor, you will contribute to developing promotional and preventive work together with staff and management. In the school's student health team, you will contribute knowledge about the students' general and specific psychosocial health and social situation. We expect you to have knowledge of school and social legislation, as well as good knowledge of society's various support systems, authorities, or voluntary organizations, and to be comfortable interacting with them.

As a school counselor, you will participate in work regarding the school's structure, organization, and routines concerning values, equal treatment, and crisis situations. We strive for a secure and good working environment for both adults and young people, characterized by openness, curiosity, and participation.

The assignment may change over time based on the needs of the operations.

Your qualifications

A relevant university degree is required for the position.

• A social work degree is prioritized for employment, 210 ECTS credits in the new point system.
• A Bachelor of Arts degree with a behavioral science focus (psychology, social psychology, sociology, and social work/development work) plus 30 ECTS credits in social law. A Bachelor's degree corresponds to 180 ECTS credits in the new point system.
• Social pedagogue (applies only to Bachelor's degrees of at least 3 years at a university or college, 180 ECTS), plus 30 ECTS credits in social law.

The following qualifications are particularly meritorious:

• You are well-versed in digital aids.
• You have knowledge of digital system support within the school sector (Prorenata).
• You have previous experience working as a counselor or in a similar role.
• You have experience working with children and young people.

In the role of school counselor, collaboration is central, as the work takes place close to students, teachers, guardians, and the student health team to create a holistic picture and provide the right support. A service-oriented attitude is evident in daily interactions, where you are accessible, attentive, and build trust with both students and staff. The work also requires good problem-solving skills, as many situations are complex and require you to find functional solutions for issues such as crises or social difficulties. At the same time, integrity is crucial as you handle sensitive information with respect and make professional assessments based on legislation and the best interests of the student.

The extract is free of charge, but it may take the police up to 2-3 weeks to process. Therefore, order it in good time!

Before employment begins, you need to show that you have the right to work, as required by the Aliens Ordinance. You do this by proving your citizenship in the EU/EEA or Switzerland via passport, national ID card, or certificate of personal status together with an identity document. If you cannot do this, you need to present a work permit or show that you are exempt from the requirement for a work permit.
