Braheskolan on Visingsö is now looking for an English teacher for the upcoming academic year.

About the position

We are looking for someone who wants to inspire and develop our participants in English. The teaching takes place in small groups within the adult education centre (folkhögskola), where relationships, participation, and individual development are at the centre.

Braheskolan’s profile is language and culture, and we value curiosity, communication, and encounters between people and perspectives.

As we are a small school on Visingsö, you work closely with both participants and colleagues. As a teacher, you meet the same participants for large parts of the week. This creates good opportunities to build relationships and follow the participants' development over time.

The participants the position primarily targets are studying the English profile within both the general course and the special course. It may also become relevant to teach English 1–2 (5–6) for participants in the general course with a language profile other than English.

During the autumn term, the participants study on Visingsö, and during the spring term, the studies continue in Brighton, UK. After that, a new group of participants starts at the school on Visingsö for the next round.

The position is 100% during the period August–April. There may be opportunities for continued work afterwards in the form of short courses or other course activities.

Start date is around August 17th or as agreed.

We are looking for you who:

• have teacher certification in English or other relevant education/experience
• are pedagogical, engaged, and confident in the classroom
• enjoy working closely with participants and colleagues
• believe in relationship-building teaching and active participation in the school community
• have very high linguistic competence in English

You preferably have English as your mother tongue or an equivalent level through education and experience.

Experience of teaching within adult education centres (folkhögskola) or adult education is meritorious.
