Åsele is a perfectly located place between the coast and the mountains in Southern Lapland. At Åsele Municipality, we ensure that the essentials of our residents' daily lives function smoothly, such as water and heat delivery, snowplowing of roads, care for our elderly, and education for school children. We make a difference for everyone who lives, visits, and works in Åsele.
Åsele Municipality covers a beautiful natural area of 4,235 km², featuring over fifty nature reserves and a national park. During winter, the area serves as reindeer grazing land for two Sami communities. What attracts visitors to Åsele, besides nature and outdoor activities, is the historic Åsele Market, one of Sweden's largest summer markets.
Åsele Municipality (Sjeltien tjïelte in South Sami) is a Sami administrative area, and knowledge of the Sami language is an advantage in certain professional roles.
