The NUE Combat Support Unit supports decision-makers on the battlefield as well as at the political level. The unit gathers information, analyzes its implications, and communicates findings to relevant commanders – both nationally and internationally.

The unit is subordinate to the Chief of Must and is not part of the new Intelligence Service.

To meet the demands of a changing world, service at NUE involves an initial position training followed by continuous competence development. This ensures flexibility and the ability to quickly shift focus. Are you creative, social, and analytical, with the ability to see the big picture while discerning details, and do you have an interest in international service? Then a position with us may be of interest to you.

Main Duties

You will work with analysis regarding a geographical or thematic processing area related to one of the conflict zones where Sweden operates. The work aims to provide decision-makers in the Government Offices as well as Swedish and multinational military commanders with the best possible decision support. In practice, this means identifying patterns and drawing relevant conclusions based on reporting from various sources. You will work with a broad range of issues, from security policy analysis to tactical intelligence.

The position involves participating in the planning and direction of collection within the processing area, producing written intelligence reports, and conducting briefings. Furthermore, you are expected to collaborate with various actors both in Sweden and abroad.

International service is a mandatory recurring part of the position. The frequency of rotations is planned in consultation between employees and management, estimated at three months per year.

Requirements

  • University education or several years of experience in qualified analytical work at another intelligence agency deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Completed and approved conscription training or GMU (General Military Training).
  • Swedish citizenship.
  • Driver’s license, class B or higher.
  • Very good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Merits

  • Advanced university degree.
  • Training in or experience with intelligence analysis.
  • Previous international service for the Swedish Armed Forces, another Swedish authority, or another international organization.
  • Good knowledge of military, political, and cultural conditions in conflict-affected areas.
  • Additional language skills.
  • Work experience in qualified analysis activities.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who is meticulous and has good stylistic ability in both speech and writing. You have a good understanding of systems and strong analytical skills to process and analyze large amounts of text and data.

Furthermore, you have good judgment and are humble regarding the complexity of the task. You have good self-awareness and very good ability to build and maintain relationships, both with internal and external parties. Under pressure, you have very good ability to maintain focus and perform. Handling short and long deadlines is no problem for you.

You are curious and want to develop within the field of operations. To thrive in the role, two of your interests are reading and physical activity.

Other Information

In this process, we ask you to be patient. You have several steps to go through, and a large number of applicants will undergo testing.

Timeline and Process Steps:

  • Digital test demonstrating problem-solving ability, as well as personality assessment – from week 34
  • Physical tests – SATURDAY week 45 FM/EM
  • Writing test – SATURDAY week 45 FM/EM
  • Professional interview – from week 50 to week 53
  • Psychological assessment – from week 55

You will be informed continuously if you qualify for the next step.

The position is a permanent employment with a six-month probationary period, starting 2027-08-09. The position also involves being war-placed (krigsplacerad).

Service begins in August 2027 with a joint education. The education consists of approximately eight months of position training, including training in intelligence and military skills. Working hours during the training may be inconvenient for shorter periods.

If you are not approved in the steps, your probationary employment will be terminated. If you already have employment with the Swedish Armed Forces, a reassignment will occur.

The position is located in Stockholm, but travel is involved.

Selection is ongoing, and your application must include a CV and a cover letter. In the cover letter, we want you to explain why you are suitable for this position.
