Job Responsibilities

The role of Support Assistant requires knowledge of different functional abilities and what it means to have an intellectual disability. It is important that you have clear, pedagogical, and simple communication skills. Furthermore, it is important that you are receptive, responsible, and confident in yourself. The ability to act with a low-affective approach is essential. You need to be able to work both in a group and independently. Care work and hygiene routines are part of the job, as well as performing delegated tasks such as tube feeding.

To function and thrive in the job, you need to be able to communicate and collaborate with other staff and guardians, as well as have the ability to plan and structure the day and document in the journal system. The activity is open according to the families' needs, which means that visiting times may vary. Schedules and working hours change according to the children's/young people's needs, especially during holidays and leave.

Qualifications

It is a requirement that you have education in areas such as social pedagogy, special education, leisure-time pedagogy, or that you are trained as a nurse assistant, childcare worker, or have other relevant education.

Another requirement is that you have experience working with children and young people with disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and neurodevelopmental disorders (ND). You should have the ability to set firm boundaries and maintain established routines for the people you work with. For documentation management, you must be computer literate and proficient in the Swedish language.

A B-driver's license is also a requirement.

It is meritorious if you have experience with cooking, enjoy cooking, have worked with pedagogical cooking, diet, or health. The greatest weight is placed on personal suitability.
