Counselor for the Children's Team in Skellefteå

The Habilitation Centre is a basic unit comprising child and adolescent habilitation, adult habilitation, advice and support, as well as visual and hearing rehabilitation. The operations provide counseling and other personal support according to the LSS (Act for Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments), as well as habilitation and rehabilitation for children, adolescents, and adults with permanent disabilities.

The Habilitation Centre is a county-wide operation with approximately 170 employees based in Lycksele, Skellefteå, and Umeå. The mission is to contribute to good health and the best possible functional capacity, as well as good conditions for an independent life and active participation in society for the children, adolescents, and adults we serve.

We are now looking for a counselor to join the children's team in Skellefteå. You will work with children (0–12 years) with significant and/or permanent disabilities, as well as with their guardians. We have approximately 20 employees. The work team includes an administrator, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, counselor, speech therapist, psychologist, and special educator.

Job Description

As a counselor with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that make people feel safe.

Your duties include providing psychosocial support, counseling, and information to parents. You are often the first person parents meet when contacting the child and adolescent habilitation service, and you conduct the initial individual planning with the family. Your duties also involve collaborating with networks and other organizations around the family, such as preschools, schools, and social services. You are responsible for individual planning for the family together with other staff members. You are also expected to participate in the planning and implementation of training and group activities for parents, the child/adolescent, and the network.

Work takes place in interdisciplinary teams, and planning is done in collaboration with parents, the child/adolescent, and the network. In addition to the counselor, the team includes a psychologist, physiotherapist, special educator, speech therapist, and occupational therapist. You contribute your specific expertise to the team's work.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker (socionom) and have good knowledge of significant and permanent disabilities and the consequences this can have on a person's life. You should have a good ability to work both in teams and independently.

It is meritorious if you are a licensed healthcare counselor. A driver's license is required as the work involves travel within Skellefteå and Norsjö municipalities.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
