Blekinge Wing is looking for a Meteorological Assistant for the Meteorological Department

The main task of the Meteorological Department is to manage the local weather service around the clock and provide flying units and other personnel with weather data for planning and execution. As a Meteorological Assistant, you will support the department managers both administratively and as a team leader for smaller projects. You will also work regularly with practical weather observation services.

Your primary workplace will be at the Meteorological Department at Blekinge Wing F17, but work at air bases/alternative landing sites and duty at other locations also occurs. Duty abroad may also occur.

Main Responsibilities

• Shared position where you perform observation duties and support the department managers' operational leadership by providing administrative support.
• Act as a team leader for projects within the Meteorological Department.
• Maintain qualification as a local weather observer at your own weather unit through regular service as a weather observer.
• Participate in and contribute to the training of new weather observers and, if necessary, train air traffic controllers in observation services.
• Act as a support for department managers in steering weather observation services at your own unit and any other operational sites.
• Participate in exercise activities, nationally and internationally.
• Participate in exercises at temporary bases/sites in field environments.
• Perform physical activity, both individually and in groups.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Upper secondary school diploma with passing grades.
• Category B driver's license (manual transmission).

Merits

• Previous experience in similar tasks.
• Experience as a weather observer within the Swedish Armed Forces.
• Previous experience in the role of team leader or similar, preferably within the Swedish Armed Forces.
• Studies in natural sciences.
• Experience with administrative tasks, such as bookings, orders, and SAP.
• Good knowledge of working time agreements and benefits within the Swedish Armed Forces.

Other

The position is a permanent employment that begins with a 6-month probationary period.

You will undergo mandatory training both at Blekinge Wing/F17 and at other locations.

Round-the-clock work, including weekends, may occur.

Work Location: Ronneby

Start Date: As soon as possible according to agreement.

Since you will be assigned for wartime duty, you will undergo basic soldier training.

Information about the Swedish Armed Forces and the recruiting unit:

Blekinge Wing trains three wartime units; two combat flight divisions with Jas 39 Gripen and a base unit. The combat flight divisions are an important part of protecting Swedish airspace, known as incident readiness. The base unit is the largest wartime unit and contains everything needed to get the Gripen aircraft airborne. This includes, among other things, maintenance of the aircraft, base protection, logistics, and airport operations. The wing also trains the Air Force's only hunter unit, the air base hunters. Their tasks include gathering information through reconnaissance and protecting the personnel and vehicles of the air combat forces.
