Our 1,800 employees work with primary care and health in Uppsala County. We offer a wide range of services within primary care. Our patients meet us at Region Uppsala's own health centers or within habilitation services, and we provide advice over the phone via 1177. Education, research, and development are important to us, as we tailor our offerings based on the needs of the residents. We already offer mobile teams, video visits, and smart e-services.

Now you have the chance to work as a counselor in our Children and Youth Team. Together with us, you will contribute to enabling people with hearing impairments to live good lives. You will also provide interventions in the Deaf and Deafblind Team for children and young people with combined hearing and visual impairments. The position is a one-year fixed-term contract, full-time, with a start date to be agreed upon.

Our Operations

Hörcentralen is a unit within the Hearing and Vision Services. The unit is part of the Disability area within Primary Care and Health at Region Uppsala. Referrals to the Children and Youth Team mainly come from doctors. Our interventions include, for example, fitting hearing aids and other technical hearing aids, advice and support to parents, counseling, information to preschools/schools, sign language instruction, assessment of language skills, and language and communication guidance for parents.

Your Role

In your role as a licensed Health and Social Care Counselor, you will meet with children and young people with hearing impairments/combined hearing and visual impairments and their families. You will work with mapping, illuminating the individual child's psychosocial situation, and providing interventions to improve relationships and communication within the family. This includes various forms of conversations/crisis counseling, as well as providing information, advice, and support. The interventions are directed at children and young people aged 0–20 and their families. You will work both independently and together with others in the team. You will also collaborate with other agencies, such as other healthcare providers, authorities, schools, and preschools. Teamwork plays a central role, and you will work motivationally together with other professions.

You will be part of the operation's psychosocial group together with other counselors and psychologists. External supervision is provided jointly and regularly to the counselors in the operation.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed Health and Social Care Counselor with an interest and experience in working with children, young people, and families. Previous experience as a counselor is an advantage.

The work requires that you have good cooperation skills and enjoy working in teams with other professional groups, but also that you have the ability to work independently. It is important that you have drive and a willingness to develop good habilitation services. Good knowledge of spoken and written Swedish is required.
