Substitute Assistant for Cheerful 11-Year-Old Girl – Uppsala/Skyttorp

We are looking for a substitute assistant for a cheerful, lively, and active 11-year-old girl. She is a forward-thinking, mobile girl who loves to play and be silly! Discovering and exploring new things is very exciting for her. She enjoys building with blocks, exploring the function and form of things, and loves playing in the playground or in the forest.

The girl lives in Skyttorp with her family. Good connections for commuting and bus travel are available from the residence. The assistance also takes place at the family's house in Denmark during school holidays.

Important Medical Requirements

It is important that you are meticulous, as there is medical technical equipment such as a manual suction device, saturation monitor, oxygen, and inhalation equipment.

The girl needs help in her daily life with hygiene and care of a gastrostomy, medication, inhalation treatment, adapted drinks and diet, breathing monitoring, and oxygen treatment in a high-flow mask with MyAirvo 2 during sleep. It also includes motor and movement training in the form of play and exercises, as well as sign language training.

Communication and Daily Life

You accompany her in daily life and are involved in school, healthcare visits, outings, and trips with the family. As an assistant, you are with her during both indoor and outdoor activities. The girl has no spoken language but is very communicative using sounds, signs, and body language. You will be her interpreter and translator to people she meets. She uses a TalkPad. The assistant helps and supports her in communication using TAKK (Total Communication) and TalkPad. Therefore, good written Swedish is required.

Desirable Experience

Experience with tube feeding, TAKK/sign language, visual aids, or communication programs, as well as experience with children with autism and hyperactivity, is desirable. Training in breathing monitoring, oxygen treatment, and first aid is provided by a qualified nurse through Home Child Care, Akademiska Barnsjukhuset.

About You

We are looking for you who are a calm and observant person with great patience. You are confident working independently. You are used to taking care of children and have experience working in healthcare. You still have a child's heart and enjoy activating and playing with children. Since the work is in a family with children, we place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Job Duties and Conditions

This is an active, awake assistance role, divided into 2–3 shifts during the day. We are currently looking for someone for a substitute position on a scheduled basis at 75%. You must be able to work daytime hours at school, and evening and night shifts on weekdays and some weekends are included.

• You are a non-smoker.
• You must master Swedish in both speech and writing.
• The substitute position is on a scheduled basis for 12 months but may be terminated early if the regular assistant returns sooner.
