Description
As an employee in Gislaved Municipality, you are a co-creator at your workplace. You are given the opportunity and expected to contribute to the development of the operations through your knowledge and experience. Respect for differences and the equal value of all people are fundamental to us.
Gislaved Municipality, part of Småland, is located in the heart of a region known for the "Gnosjö spirit" and high employment rates.
If you desire proximity to nature and a wide range of leisure activities, Gislaved is an excellent municipality to live and work in. Here, you can clearly feel the closeness to societal services as well as shops and business offerings.
The Music School in Gislaved is a well-established and appreciated activity in the municipality. We have approximately 500 students of various ages and offer children and young people the opportunity to play an instrument and sing. At the Music School, 22 dedicated educators work. The Music School has a close collaboration with the primary school, partly through co-teaching in year 2 and partly through various music projects. We also collaborate with Gislaved Upper Secondary School, where Music School teachers teach on the aesthetic program's music specialization. We have an extensive ensemble and concert activity with access to well-equipped teaching rooms, a music studio, orchestra, and concert halls. The municipality has a rich musical and choral life with orchestras such as the Gislaved Symphony Orchestra, Gislaved Chamber Choir, Gislaved Big Band, and Gislaved Westbo Band.
The Music School is part of the Cultural Pedagogical Unit, which also includes dance, theater, and film activities.
Job Responsibilities
You will work in a cohesive team with music school teachers. The Music School operates throughout the municipality, and we teach both during the day and in the evenings. Your main responsibility will be to take care of singing students aged 9–19. In addition to teaching, you will also be involved in the projects and concerts we conduct within the operations. Choral singing is an important part of the role.
Your duties include teaching singing students at the Music School and the possibility of teaching at the aesthetic program. Teaching music in year 2 together with the class teacher (co-teaching) is also included. You are part of a work team where you, together with the other two singing pedagogues, plan concerts and other projects. We are part of the cultural department and view collaborations between different units, such as the library and Kreaktiv Arena (Youth Leisure), very positively.
Qualifications
- Degree from a university college of music or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Experience in singing instruction.
- Good digital competence and experience using digital tools in teaching.
- Category B driver's license and access to a private car.
- Experience as an actively performing musician is meritorious.
Your collaboration is deeply linked to your ability to cooperate and participate in the development of your own and the organization's operations. With us, this means you have good cooperation with your manager and colleagues, both at your own workplace and within the rest of the municipal group. You treat everyone with a high level of service, kindness, and quality through a customer- and service-focused approach. You take responsibility for participating in operational matters and are solution-oriented.
You have a degree from a University College of Music with a specialization in singing, with previous experience from singing pedagogical work with children and young people. In your teaching, you are accustomed to using digital tools. If you also have a specialization in additional instruments and have a teacher's license for primary/upper secondary school, this is advantageous. Experience leading ensembles is also a benefit. You easily see the big picture and how your work relates to the rest of the organization. It is important in this role that you have a well-developed pedagogical and creative ability. You have a good understanding of how children and young people acquire knowledge and about different prerequisites for learning.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability and that your view of collaboration aligns with ours.
We apply background checks (extracts from the criminal record register) as a form of suitability assessment for all offered employment in operations where there is direct and regular contact with children and young people.
The position is a temporary replacement during parental leave but may lead to a permanent position.
Do you want to be part of our success? We welcome your application!
In Gislaved Municipality, full-time employment is a right, and therefore vacant positions are advertised as full-time. Part-time is of course an option when the operations can accommodate it. Positions shorter than 3 months and certain positions may be exempted. In connection with the recruitment process, Gislaved Municipality has taken a stance on recruitment channels and marketing. We therefore expressly decline contact with media sellers, recruitment sites, and similar.
