About the Department
The position is located at the Music School, which is part of the Community Planning, Leisure, and Culture Administration. The administration consists of the strategic department, property department, building permits department, street/park operations department, meal service, cleaning service, as well as leisure and culture. We are approximately 170 employees who plan and prepare work to realize the municipality's visions.
Our mission is to plan, build, develop, and manage a sustainable and well-functioning society, as well as to create a broad leisure and cultural offering for everyone. The Music School has a dedicated team with high competence and big visions for the future, including broadening the cultural offering so that all children and young people feel welcome.
Responsibilities
The Music School in Sölvesborg is now looking for an engaged string instrument teacher who meets each student where they are in their musical development. You will teach violin and viola, both through individual lessons, group classes, as well as orchestra and ensemble leadership.
Teaching takes place in collaboration with primary schools during and after school hours. Work on evenings and weekends may also occur, primarily in connection with concert activities.
An investigation is currently underway regarding how we can develop the Music School into a Cultural School with a broader scope. You will be an important part of this development journey, and your duties may be adjusted to reflect the new direction.
Requirements and Qualifications
We are looking for you who have musical education with a focus on string instruments, or equivalent experience that we assess as comparable.
- You are social, flexible, and have an easy time building good relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- You contribute positivity and engagement to the group.
- You view development positively and are inspiring for future musicians.
- A driver's license and access to a private car are required as teaching takes place at various locations and working hours may include evenings and weekends.
It is highly meritorious if you have competence in several subjects, including within the aesthetic field.

Location: Sölvesborg is located on the coast of Blekinge with good commuting options from both Karlskrona and Malmö.
