Temporary Staff for Lerum Municipality's Adapted Schools – Autumn Term 2026

Lerum Municipality is known for its beautiful natural areas with lakes and forests. The municipality has 3,200 employees and 43,000 residents, but expects significant growth in the coming years. Lerum is located just a 20-minute commute from Gothenburg and is currently facing a period of intense development with many exciting projects underway, ranging from schools to housing. We are looking for temporary staff for the autumn term 2026 for Lerum Municipality's adapted schools. If you are interested in starting work before the summer, that is also possible.

As a temporary staff member, you will be employed through Lerum Municipality's Staffing Unit. The assignments cover periods when permanent staff are absent, which can be both short-term cover and longer-term assignments.

How it works:

You will be employed intermittently (as a temporary staff member) and will receive ongoing requests for work shifts – sometimes with same-day notice, and sometimes with longer lead time. You indicate your availability for work in our digital booking system, where you can also express interest in specific shifts.

As a temporary staff member, work assignments can vary from day to day, and you may work in different schools throughout the municipality. Working hours are during the day on weekdays.

Job Responsibilities

You are a secure and positive role model for our students and support them in their learning, communication, and social development. The students follow an adapted curriculum that resembles and is integrated with the compulsory school curriculum, and teaching is carried out in close cooperation with compulsory school principals and staff. In your work, you will use various pedagogical tools such as picture support, sign language, and sensory or creative training to meet the students' individual needs.

As support for an individual student, you are actively present, guide in both teaching and care situations, and contribute to a secure, structured, and predictable environment. The work is varied and involves significant responsibility as well as the ability to work independently.

Examples of tasks:

  • Support an individual student in teaching based on permanent staff planning.
  • Use picture support, sign language, and other adapted methods to facilitate communication and learning.
  • Assist with practical tasks, care, and activities during the school day.
  • Participate in sensory, motor, and creative exercises together with the student.
  • Create security during breaks, transitions, and other changes.
  • Contribute to after-school or afternoon activities adapted to the student's conditions.

Qualifications

Who are you?
We are looking for someone who finds it easy to create contact in social situations and can quickly build trust with students. You take responsibility, show initiative, and are confident in working independently. You have a good ability to structure your work and drive it forward, while being receptive, attentive, and enjoying teamwork.

You are someone who can quickly adapt to new student groups, routines, and plans, as well as handle situations that arise during the school day independently.

Educational Background and Experience
A high school diploma is required for the work. Experience from working in compulsory schools, service professions, or work where you support or help other people is meritorious. We place great importance on personal suitability.

To work within compulsory schools, a certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) is required. When you have submitted your application, you will receive an automatic response with instructions on how to order the extract.
