About the role
(Immediately – December 2026, with possibility of extension)
Uppsala Tjej- och Transjour (Uppsala Girls' and Trans Shelter) is looking for a temporary Operations Coordinator while our employee is on leave. The role involves working independently and with a clear focus on the organization's goals. We are looking for someone who thrives in a flexible role and wants to work with operational development, financial responsibility, coordinating volunteers, and providing support to young people.
We are seeking a person who is passionate about violence prevention, the rights of young people, and mental health, and who wants to make a real difference in a small association with a big heart.
The position is 80% and is funded by grants from the National Board of Health and Welfare and Uppsala Municipality. The position is filled immediately and runs until December 2026, with the possibility of extension into 2027. The Operations Coordinator works closely with the three other employees and has the association's voluntary board as the employer. At Uppsala Tjej- och Transjour, we have goal-oriented working hours based on a 30-hour work week (full-time). Some working hours are scheduled during evenings and weekends. There is also the possibility of some remote work.
Responsibilities
- Budget responsibility and ongoing bookkeeping
- Grant-related administration
- Development of support services
- Support conversations with young people seeking help
- Coordination and supervision of volunteers
Requirements
- Education as a social worker, psychologist, or equivalent education as assessed by the employer
- Initiative and experience working independently
- Experience in coordination
- Experience working in a leadership role
Qualifications and skills that are meritorious
- Knowledge of HBTQIA+
- Experience in financial management
- Experience in non-profit operations
- Experience conducting support conversations
- Experience with the target group of children and young people

Uppsala Tjej- och Transjour is a non-profit association founded in 2005. The association is non-partisan and non-religious and works for gender equality, equity, brotherhood, and sisterhood. We are passionate about supporting and encouraging young people, working preventatively for gender equality and equity, and highlighting the young perspective in societal debate. The employer consists of a voluntary board; the shelter has four employees and approximately 30 volunteers.
