The Department of Computer Science is one of three departments at the Faculty of Computer Science. It is BTH's largest department with approximately 70 staff members. Research is conducted at the department within the field of computer science, covering sub-areas such as big data and AI, parallel computer systems, visual and interactive computer science, as well as security and distributed systems.

Job Description

The position involves teaching in computer science with a focus on IT and cybersecurity. The teaching responsibility covers two of BTH's engineering programs within security. The teaching may include lectures and practical components such as laboratories and project work, as well as supervision of undergraduate theses. The teaching is primarily conducted in Swedish, so good knowledge of Swedish is strongly recommended. A non-Swedish speaking applicant may be considered but is expected to acquire sufficient Swedish skills within three years.

The employment may also include administrative tasks such as course development and participation in the department's internal work. Under special circumstances, and if prerequisites are met, there may be limited opportunities to conduct research within the security field.

Competence Requirements

The applicant is expected to have strong documented competence in education, research, and practical training in cybersecurity, with the ability to contribute to the continued development of both existing and future course offerings in IT and OT security.

The applicant should have teaching experience and subject competence in several of the following areas:

• Digital Forensics
• Advanced Digital Forensics
• Web Security
• Penetration Testing
• Secure Systems
• Network Security
• Security tools, methods, and operational skills relevant to SOC/TIR levels 1, 2, and 3
• Threat Intelligence
• Malware Analysis
• Advanced Malware Analysis
• Protection of Critical Infrastructure
• AI Security

The applicant should also be able to contribute to the development of education and training within both Red Team and Blue Team operations. It is highly meritorious if the applicant has experience in designing and conducting practical, scenario-based cybersecurity training.

We use CyberRanges as a platform for everything from individual skill training to large-scale, complex Red Team and Blue Team exercises. In our training environment, we also connect real cyber-physical systems with the CyberRange platform to simulate realistic attack and defense scenarios. Experience in working with OT/ICS/SCADA environments, cyber-physical systems, and realistic attack simulation is therefore highly meritorious.

The ideal candidate should be able to bridge academic teaching and current professional practice, as well as contribute to the continued development of courses and training environments that prepare students for work in modern cyber defense, incident handling, and protection of critical infrastructure.

Qualification Requirements

Eligible for appointment as University Lecturer is one who has:

• completed a university degree of at least 180 higher education credits or has equivalent competence or has other skills that are significant with regard to the subject content of the employment and the tasks to be included in the employment,
• shown pedagogical skill.

Meritorious Competences and Experiences

In addition to the requirements described in the job description, qualification requirements, and assessment criteria for the position, the following degrees, competences, and experiences are considered meritorious:

• University degree at advanced level in IT security or cybersecurity from computer science, software engineering, or a similar field
• Documented experience of teaching at university courses within the security field
• Knowledge of Swedish enabling teaching at undergraduate level
• Good communication and collaboration skills
