Special Educator in Language, Writing, and Reading Development at Åkerskolan, Nässjö

Åkerskolan is located in western Nässjö, close to the Skogsvallen sports ground. The school caters to students from pre-school class through to year 6. We offer two forms of schooling: regular primary school and adapted primary school, along with an after-school center for all students. We expect to have approximately 520 students at the school this autumn.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an engaged and qualified special educator specializing in language, writing, and reading development. As a special educator here, you play a central role in promoting students' linguistic development. You work based on analysis, planning, implementing, and following up on support measures at both individual and group levels. The work is carried out in close collaboration with teaching teachers, the student health team, and school management. The assignment is characterized by trust in your professional judgment and a shared responsibility for the students' development and goal achievement. You are part of the school's student health team as well as a special educator team together with other special educators.

The role includes:

• Taught students individually or in small groups.
• Assess students' support needs and conduct pedagogical assessments as well as reading and writing assessments.
• Plan, implement, and follow up on special pedagogical interventions within reading and writing acquisition.
• Work preventively to identify students at risk of reading and writing difficulties early on.
• Supervise and support educators in adaptations, extra support, and didactic strategies.
• Contribute to the development of accessible learning environments.
• Participate in the student health team's work.
• Collaborate with guardians and, if necessary, external actors.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a certified teacher with a special educator degree specializing in language, writing, and reading development.
• Has experience conducting reading and writing assessments.
• Has good knowledge of assessments, action plans, and extra adaptations.
• Has a holistic perspective on operations.
• Actively works to ensure that teaching is equitable and accessible to all students.
• Easily builds trusting relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues.
